I own a 2012 JCW version of this car with a manual transmission. Like most Minis, this car is the embodiment of fun. It's very quick for what it is and gets a LOT of attention. There is a sharp divide on the styling and "backwards hat" look that they created with this one. As you said, it's a rare car. Finding one that's in good shape is getting harder these days. I find it to be the perfect solo weekend getaway car. Thank you for the video!
Ive had my Red R58 JCW for 7yrs. Still love it, hasnt missed a beat. Home serviced regularly and loves the longer runs. Bought it with 20K kms, now has almost 68K kms. Yes they do get a lot of attention, I do get harassed though by people who want it to go faster so I get tailgated a LOT which is my only hate on this car sadly.
I have the same mini cooper 2013 coupe. Yes it gets a lot of attention and I too experience road bullies. But you know what, I just ignore them. If they tailgate you, then go slower so they would be pissed off and change lanes. I do that to show them that I'm not intimidated.
@@Princepjshow12 I did that recently, Holden Commodore seen me go past, sped up and sat a foot off my rear bumper. My hair stood up on the back of my neck I was furious so I slowed down like you said. Went from 60kms to 50kms and he stayed behind me for 1min but knew I wasn't going to budge and went around but it never stops 😞 I'll keep trying your strategy because I'm holding onto this little beauty.
I believe the circlular item on the steering column is the microphone for the hands free phone, not the openmeter attachment. The open meter is on the other side of the tach, and attached to the tach with no other attachments to the steering column.
have one in red with black roof, added white pin stripes to it and it looks so cool and unique. can't believe I paid 11k for it with only 70000 kilometres on it, it is a bargain for the amount of fun this car is, wanted a 911, but for 200k its absurd and overpriced, bought this instead, not as fast, but the handling is second to none, and I've driven the 911 turbo s 992 version and a Ferrari f12, this car rocks and rocks very hard for the price. insane, love mine.
We had a 2014 Orange S Coupe. It was a pocket rocket. Corners very well. The boot has a pass through, I did not see that on your video. We sold the Coupe because it was just too hard on the back as a daily driver. We are now looking at a 2013 JCW Coupe for a fun weekend car.
I have a mini coupe cooper s and I must say it drives just like a kart. In The Netherlands where I live there are just 855 so there they are really rare
Thanks for another video you MINIac! I'm always glad to find a new release. I like these Coupes and their big hatch, but as noted the backwards baseball cap has been offsetting. For some reason that roof always made me think of a bad toupée.
The spoiler / wing is for channelling dust into the face of any driver behind you, as they eat it....unlike on the GP3, where the rear diffuser has been accidentally glued to the roof.
Thanks for this review. I've found myself developing an interest in these, mostly because of the somewhat funky (unattractive?) styling and the fact that you seldom see them. I think choosing the right color or color combination probably really makes a difference in how they look in person. Anyway....thanks again for doing this review. Your videos are consistently the best out there. :)
@@stevemccrory9130 RATS...I sold my motorcycle yesterday to a guy who showed up looking like a Hell's Angel. Although my Suzuki SV650 isn't a Hell's Angel type of bike. Had I read this first, I would have asked him to try on some yellow and pink so that we could have tested your theory.
@@TheMINIac that is correct. I have been eyeing the “ultimate arm rest” for my R56 on the New Mini Mania spare parts site in the US. And today I just pulled the trigger and bought it. It is easy to fit (going by TH-cam). Doesn’t need any drilling and all. I think that’s the best arm rest for the R56 and is even better than the OEM one. Of course, it will take a few weeks to arrive here in India but it will be worth waiting for.
Great video. I've been considering getting one? how much would you say would be needed for a basic engine rebuild in the future? or would this Mini be somewhat reliable given it's size.
Is the coupe appreciably louder/noiser than the hardtop? I've heard they are and as a guy who enjoys listening to the sound system while touring....just wondering if I would find this bothersome? I'm finding their unique looks somewhat captivating. Thanks.
@@TheMINIac I was talking about how dirty the engine was, lol 😂. Great review!! I will have to do a new video soon, so you can see the updates to my Coupe!
I'm owner of a 2015 Mini Cooper Coupe S, based in the UK, nice car, however massive draw back, if your in a state with road conditions as bad as NYC and LA avoid this car, cabin noise is terrible and you feel every pothole in the road, the armrest is always push up an out the way, due to manual transmission. I would not advise anyone to buy this model.

Clubman + Coupe = 2 car goals
The back-wards baseball cap roof was the language MINI used in their original brochure.

Exactly. You wouldn't get mean and moody from a Hell's Angel if they were dressed in luminous yellow and pink.

@@hawkrider88 I reckon they all wear luminous underwear and socks under that black leather and denim, and sleep with flufffy toy unicorns.
Just bought one on Friday. Green with pearl gray roof. I keep bumping my head in and out of the door. So far liken it. Everyone has a comment!
Really cool piece of trivia, being the fact it was based off of the convertible. I always loved that car and wished they did an F series
The one thing I like in this which I don’t have in my 2012 R56 Cooper S Hardtop, is the centre arm rest.

There are so many Coupes in Albuquerque NM. Besides mine there are 3 within a quarter mile of my house. One is JCW
There are four within a quarter of a mile. I guess the 2021 rally is at your house. Get out the grill!
Awesome look

It is not loud, only when you step on the gas you hear the exhaust.. My Coupe has a Harman Kardon soundsystem and it sounds great!!!
Which one looks better, the R58, or the R59? I like the R58 looks better.
Definitely R59
The R58 looks better than the R59 with the top up, but I think the R59 looks so good with the top down.
Should have been more popular shame it was cancelled Superleggera could have been a great follow up.
Yeah I agree. Hope they rekindle that idea when things start turning electric
Damn, what did they do run the car through a sandstorm!!! Lol 😂

n18 one of the most reliable engine? are you serious ?
It was pretty reliable with every MINI I owned. As far as the older engines go, it was more reliable than the N14.
