Dude great lesson! I love how you stressed “staying in the pocket” because it is so important! I love playing funk and playing to funk songs and that requires you to REALLY stay in the pocket. I mean, I know every song you have to stay in the pocket, but funk is just one of those genres where you have to locked in! Keep it up man.

I practice rudiments with my pillows or something that resists the natural bounce of the stick. Of course you want to stretch and stay energized because you know drums will take the energy away FAST lol.
