One problem I have with Persona 5 is I think it has a huge drop off for me from Persona 3s cast. In Persona 5, it feels like the Casts lives dont exist if it isnt with the MC while Persona 3, it feels like they have lives separate from the MC. The Persona 3 Casts feels like real people and the friendships you make with them seem more organic but I guess its more a pro for Persona 3 than a con for Persona 5. I also feel like half the characters in Persona 5 just dont do anything after they awaken to their persona and beat their palace. Its like they are just there for gameplay and to add an extra dialogue box (Only 10 hours deep into Persona 4 so dont have an opinion).
I have to disagree to be honest because as a player that's what makes you more attached to the characters I'm playing p3r rn and it takes so long to even start their social links i get it's to make it more organic but by that point its just too long , you have to be high mid game in order to do so while with p5 characters you get so attached to them throughout the whole story and when you have to say goodbye to everyone is such a bittersweet feeling that no game has ever had on me , p3r is being held at a very high standard I haven't finished it yet but it's defenetly slower than p5 in the begining.
Same P4G is my fav, it was also the first persona I ever played. I had it on psvita like back in 2015, so it’s kinda nostalgic a little bit even though Im only 21. It introduced me to the series I didn’t know anything about, that would turn into one of my fav game series.
Now after I finished 4, like a month after I started p5. And good god it was a great ride. At first I thought it was just a cool fun thing, chasing peoples hearts. But around sae’s palace is where it REALLY started to get good for me. It was connecting more and more and I just love it so much. Characters, story, gameplay, everything. I can’t put it above or below 4 either, so personally they are fairly equal, doing some certain things better then the other but still I hold both games near and dear to my heart. Masterpiece
But game has its peak on the first palace then it dragges, worse dialogue, the cast is just stereotypes and extremley dumb and the social links are okay compared to the others

I speak Japanese fluently. Why is this relevant? As someone who had already played and adored P4 beforehand, I went and bought a Japanese copy of P5 before any western news outlets and critics could start labeling it a masterpiece, and I went into it pretty blind to any outstanding praise and criticism. When I say I was just as hooked as you were on this game from start to finish, I mean it. P5 instantly became my favorite JRPG of all time and I told everyone I knew that it was going to be heralded as a masterpiece before the 10/10s started coming out. Sure enough, I was right. I understand if some people just overall prefer P4. That game is also incredible. But the people who roll their eyes at this being a #1 pick need to understand that sometimes it's really not bias when a game is held THIS high in regard, even if they didn't personally enjoy it as much.

3 will probably always be my favorite, the party has some of my favorites like Junpei, Yukari, Akihiko, and Aigis. I think the themes in persona 3 are the best as well, the way the s-links tie in to the themes is the best out of the whole series in my opinion and they hit the hardest. Well i hope you were expecting a comment from me as always, no superthank this time but i am getting my credit card renewd these days. So turn based games were not on my radar for a long long time, i just couldnt exactly grasp the fun of the idea behind it, i also sucked at them really. Never liked the smartphone turnbased games aswell, not even pokemon i played younger a lot. Then i figure how wrong i was when i decided ro play xcom 2 after reading and hearing about it and man that game changed my whole perspective on how tactical turn based games can be. Persona 5 was the only game where i heard or read from so many people saying that it is the greatest video game ever made, even youtube channels making lists and putring it on number one. Some people said to me that it will change my life forever and yet to this day i still havent played a persona game, i only convinced my self to downlad persona 5 tactica because it looked more like xcom rather than pokemon with anime characters and i wasnt able to play it because i didnt had a keyboard to write my name and the digital one was not recognizable. I do believe that turned based can he good though i am planning on playing baldurs gate 3 at some point and also wasteland 3 on game pass looks like a good time. So honestly i just wanted to ask for your personal opinion if either xcom, wasteland or persona can delivered the ultimate turn based experience. Or is it maybe DQ11? Thanks
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Wow that would be lovely man, I hope you can find as much enjoyment on doing that video. I feel like we are living in the golden era of video games and we should let the world know.
I was someone who hated turn based combat in games but trust when I say persona 5 changed my whole view on it. The combat is so good and fluid only taking one or two button presses to do an action makes it really fast paced and fun. I definitely recommend it even if you’re not a fan or turn based

Better pacing, better arcs then p4 for sure, best villain and overall arc in the entire series, some of the greatest characters in the series, best music and presentation and second best cast after 3, 3rd if you count p2. See there's many things actually
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Their RPGs are quite hard at the beginning, but you become REALLY strong by the end of the games. Gothic 1 and 2 are the peak of their games, two of the best RPGs, some studios should take some ideas from the first 2 gothics. The other games are not as good sadly but there's some that are still fun.
My fav (and the 1 i started with) is persona 5 royal, but do know that game takes over a 100 hours to complete your first time. But now with persona 3 reload you can get a game of the same quality with a shorter duration
@talentroller4413 -It's a simple RPG, where the gamer is just simply choosing commands. It doesn't make it more engaging when you still take one turn to attack per character. The stuff they added to make it easier made it so it's easier to get stronger Personas with more OP abilities early on in the game. About time someone gets to level 25 personas, they'll have abilities that level 45+ personas have which then makes final boss enemies a joke and far less ENGAGING as I'll have less time of choosing commands to win the game.
For me persona 5 royal, even though it is obviously is incredible, i cant put it above p4g or p3r simply because of its characters. The characters are what immerses me most in a game, and I just simply didnt find the confidants or main cast interesting enough. The cast didnt feel like they were actually friends, they were just there. P4G ftw
Such a bad take on Reload, the game is far to easy even on it hardest lvl, shuffle time where the cards don't shuffle is just stupid, the stamina mechanic I enjoyed it was just another lvl of difficulty to overcome. Most of the qol were good but removing somethings just made the game too easy like Royal. And it sucks they removed the choice of what sport you could play.
@@TotallyTubularJonathan I am disappointed about the the femc being omitted. At least The Answer can be dlc at some point but Reload isn't the definitive version and that I feel is a huge miss. It make some worried about P4 cuz that's my fav game.
i've been playing persona 3 reload as i loved persona 5 royal but i dont like it at all. Tartarus completely sucks and is very boring and there's just about no story and Im already at September. I think the themes in persona 3 are the best as well, the way the s-links tie in to the themes is the best out of the whole series in my opinion and they hit the hardest. I think P3R is a perfect remake as well. Love 4 and 5 as well, but 3 is the one that stuck with me the most. Also I will never understand how people beat any of the modern persona games in less than 100 hours, 60 hours for the og P5 is wild to me. Then again I am the type to grind all party members to lvl 99 lol.
I just want a Persona 2 remake. For the whole duology.
P3 has always been my favorite Persona game, I love P5 too, but P3P was my favorite game of all time until P3RE came out. P3 has the best story of any video game imo
P4G on Vita is what got me into jrpgs
Totally agree with P5 :D
I love P4 out of all the games the most easily but when he said there were no bad characters i laughed

Thanks
Well thanks as always for the watch and comment! You know just for you, I am gonna make a best turn based rpgs list lol
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Wow that would be lovely man, I hope you can find as much enjoyment on doing that video. Regardless I am going to support anything you put out, I really think TH-cam needs a channel as obligated to video games as yours and even more so ranking videos are relatively rare on youtube. I feel like we are living in the golden era of video games and we should let the world know.
P2 fan translated on psp plays great
My first (and still only) persona game was Persona 3 Reload. Not sure what to play next
P5
I missed the whole persona series. Was more fixated on the ff series. Now i wanna jump in, where should i start.
If you haven't started already, start with 5. I also started a few months ago and p5r sold me on the franchise. On reload right now.
Currently in July in P5, so far i like it slightly more than Like a Dragon, but I don't think it will dethrone Nier Automata for me🙂
22:28 ye no, P5T is still more polish and effort put into it than most modern Sonic games
I disagree heavily, but respect your opinion non the less.
Im sorry Jack Frost, I sacrificed you to get king Frost
Persona is one of those series I know it's good but it just the game play I could never get into
I hate turn based games, so I can never get into these games though the ones that don't have turn based combat (aka the spin offs) are decent enough.
I was someone who hated turn based combat in games but trust when I say persona 5 changed my whole view on it. The combat is so good and fluid only taking one or two button presses to do an action makes it really fast paced and fun. I definitely recommend it even if you’re not a fan or turn based
@@exle7024 I've played it, still don't like the turn based nature of it, no matter how streamlined it is. Same with the new Yakuza games switching to turn based combat.
Persona 3 Reload is so good, one of the best RPGs ever made for real. The only game that could top it off is a remake of 4
I mean p5r already released, 4 is by far the weakest imo, even a remake wouldn't change it
@@cristianoducceschi35475 is terrible compared to the others in everything except dungeons
@@Wingsofredemptionfan336 not really, p5r is actually pretty great and does many things better the others. Better pacing, better arcs then p4 for sure, best villain and overall arc in the entire series, some of the greatest characters in the series, best music and presentation and second best cast after 3, 3rd if you count p2. See there's many things actually
One day you could rank every Piranha Bytes games or just every Gothic game. I recomend specially the first 2 Gothic games
I have always known of their games but sadly have not played a single one
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Their RPGs are quite hard at the beginning, but you become REALLY strong by the end of the games.
Gothic 1 and 2 are the peak of their games, two of the best RPGs, some studios should take some ideas from the first 2 gothics.
The other games are not as good sadly but there's some that are still fun.
Please rank the smt games if you’ve played them
25:50 bookmark
can you rank every lego game (not just star wars but everything played like lotr and harry potter too)
oh I hope to one day, I havent played a lot of them though
i never touched a persona game b4 which should i play for a one off
My fav (and the 1 i started with) is persona 5 royal, but do know that game takes over a 100 hours to complete your first time. But now with persona 3 reload you can get a game of the same quality with a shorter duration
persona 3 reload and persona 5 royal are the most beginner friendly so either works.
3 is best. 4 close contender. 5 is way too easy especially Royal.
easy coz of far better quality of life. it makes the gameplay way more engaging
5 is also my favorite overall but I think the main characters of P4 are still better overall, they just have better interactions.
And it sucks they removed the choice of what sport you could play.
well regardless of how we feel about it, at least we can still play the original!
It has nice characters I guess but aside from having the P5 battle system almost no redeeming qualities. Don't get the hype
Get literally ONE MONTH further in and it’s the best for the entire rest of its run time, no question.
@@Megidolaon999still a problem though. if you have to wait that long for the story to kick in thats not a good sign and its understandable why that can turn off a lot of people
@@talentroller4413 I do understand, but I don’t play for the story
@@Megidolaon999 well in gameplay its not even a question p5 is better haha in almost every way
41:25 😂😂😂😂😂
I am a Whale.
Ngl i straight hate p5t it's worst then p4au and the p4d since those two actually add to the story p5t straight doesn't add shit and isn't fun
51 minute mark lol.
Really good list it’s nice to hear someone praise P4 and call it better than P3 for a change most in the fandom say otherwise but I agree with u p4 is the better stupid anime game 👍
you should play more games if you think persona 5 has the best story of all video games
Nier is mid btw
@@ging4157 sure, let us know
4 goldn is best I played up to the first place and I do not 5 4 golden is best persna game I played persona 3 fes and kingdom hearts and trails of could steel
PERSONA 5 IS BETTER THAN 3 IM SORRY BUT IDK HOW THE HECK DO PEOPLE THINK YARTARUSSSSSSS IS BETTER THAN DUNGEONS AND PERSONA 5 HAS THE MOST IMPRESSIVE STORY OF ALL TIME🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Persona 5??? Nah it dragged after kamoshidas palace, bad dialogue, cast is just Stereotypes and exremley dumb and the social links are just okay
You a hater want 3 because is reloaded???
3 and 4 literally have the exact same issues yet u choose to ignore it cuz ure biased lol
It bothers me so much when people say persona 5 is the best when the story is garbage after half way through it I’m sorry I said it, people act like all the confidants are the best in the series I literally got so bored of them I was speeding up through them, mementos is the most boring and dull looking dungeon like levels through the series, sure the castles were fun until they focus too much on dumb puzzles in the last 3 castles
P5R best persona ngl
Stupid anime games!
:)
P4.

Reload is my favorite 5 overstayed its welcome
