A lot of people get excited about metal guitar shredders but I don't think those dudes hold a candle to Rosinha. In my mind, this is the kind of stuff that's near the top of the mountain. She's engaging her entire right hand, commanding who movements of the song, swinging in a really relaxed way, adorning chord motifs with really stimulating melody runs. Truly the whole package

Kiko loureiro can bossa and talked about it interviews
Session guitarist Pierre Danel talked about jazz and how other styles influenced how he plays metal
Hybrid picking/chicken picking and picking style proximate with classical is used by most (manuel G. Fernandez, Ichika Nito, Olly steel and many other)

@@weistonaski6924 Sorry but I don't know who these players are but likening any metal player to this , for me at least is like going on about how a chef talked about white bread and kraft cheese slices as a culinary delicacy. What I'm trying to say is anyopne who is into metal or performs metal probably disqualifies themself as being a good player from the get-go in the real artistic sense just by being in that genre. There is no tasteful metal. You can't pollish a turd or make a racehorse out of a jackass.

@@weistonaski6924 I just had a listen to both the players you mentioned and they aren't even in the same league.
As a jazz bssist pointed out to me. when you use the effects that these guys use, you are encouraged to lazy playing, you make all the mistakes in the world, The effects cover them up. You fail to hit a string on an accoustic just right and everyone will hear it.
They play too loud also and as the real guitar master Ry Cooder said, when you play loud, the song gets away on you,, A loud guitar means everyone has to play loud , just to hear themselves and be heard, meaning an escalation. There is no longer any dynamic, just a competition of noise.
So these metal players don't even know how to play. Any effects should be like spices, used sparingly. You don't take the top off a bottle of pepper and dump it in the dish. You don't turn everything up and burn it. People don't even hear that shit properly because it overwhelms their hearing and the muscles on the bones in the ear tighten up to protect your hearing so anything subtle is not heard.
Once you play for awhile, you will hopefully become musically mature and have a better understanding of good music vs fuzz pedal speed demon shit.
I'm glad you took the time to listen to this lady. Do it more often with the acoustic players.
Go listen to the album Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis. Hendrix and Duanne Allman, arguably the greatest electric players in history said it was the greatest album ever made that they could not stop listening to or studying, There isn't a guitar in it. When you understand why it's so often been called the greatest jazz album ever recorded you will be on your way to becoming a real musician with real musical knowledge.

My earliest memory of music is bossanova, specifically The Girl from Ipanema which I would hum to myself, not knowing what it was, until my 20s when I finally re-discovered the song and the priceless treasure trove the genre is.
Bossanova is life. Sadness, melancholy, LOVE (of course), happiness, everyday life, reflection, party… the lot.

    • @fernandocondesangenis5310
      @fernandocondesangenis5310 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

As I look & listen to this recording from decades ago, I can appreciate the "raw & less filtered" music that it almost feels like you're in a room with them. Maybe that's why in terms of comparison, audiophiles like listening to vinyl in a class A sound system with all the fancy speakers compared to a very clean & less-distorted recording in a compact disc. Just my thoughts... Nothing will come as original as this composition played by this band decades ago.

    • @numoherisson1656

This is most likely footage from a segment on live TV. Brazil had many live musuc shows in the 60s. The sound quality is actually quite good,,considering that it's probably straight from the mixing board.
I think there's some confusion here about what constitutes "good" sound per older recordings. It doesn't have to be like it is today in order to be good.
Now, if only we could get rid of auto- tuned vocals....

Very few people know that the exact technique of Rosinha de Valença was copied perfectly by mexican guitarrist Gilberto Puente, which did an LP album with RCA Mexicana in 1974 or so, that contains several of the favorite songs from Rosinha, including "Consolaçaō". Their guitar playing was practically undistinguishable, even Joao Gilberto praised Gilberto Puente record and dedicated the cover.
Gilberto Puente continued playing in Mexico for a few years, and disappeared from the musical scene returning to his town in Reynosa, on the border with USA, and never recorded again. Too sad both musicians disappeared, their music was outstanding!
