- In November 2018, Kartik Satyanarayan pioneered the establishment of the SOS Wildlife Elephant Conservation and Care Centre. Spanning an impressive 1,100 sq m, this commendable facility, funded entirely through private donations, offers a comprehensive range of amenities. It boasts a dental wing, a dedicated hoist for elephants requiring intensive care, and a special quarantine area specifically designed for the sick and elderly elephants. Currently, the centre provides sanctuary to over 20 elephants, all of whom were rescued from unlawful captivity. Beyond mere shelter, this haven delivers advanced medical treatments for these magnificent creatures, utilizing state-of-the-art technology such as wireless digital X-rays, laser treatments, thermal imaging, and ultrasonography.

I am from Kerala and it is sad to see that this happened in a state where elephants are worshipped as lord Ganapathy.The above comments say that Kerala is inhuman, pls understand that one incident does not make a state bad. Yes the incident was horrific, no argument about that, but there are also people in Kerala especially towards the central part who really love elephants, buy elephants and take care of them well. I would also like to apologise on behalf of all Keralites for the incident in which an elephant ate an explosive laden pineapple. It is really sad to see that this happened in the land where elephants like Guruvayur Kesavan were treated as God’s incarnation
MODIfied India the incident where a female elephant was killed was very horrific. But what right do you have to call Keralites inhuman? I am not justifying the incident which unfortunately happened, but think about this, camels are smuggled across the border in Bangladesh everyday for meat , is that not inhuman? Musk deer is killed for its gland which makes perfume, is that not inhuman? And this has been going on for many years. Yes , there are incidents where elephants get mistreated in Kerala , but for each bad incident, I can site almost ten times when elephants were treated better than anywhere else in this country. So pls think twice before calling any state inhuman. May I also apologise on behalf of all malayalees for the horrifying incident
