He had offensive linemen well under 200 lbs at the college level, and today the best high schools have 300 pound linemen. Add that in with the potential for hotter summers and the growing concern over frequent head injuries and it's a scary picture.
Junction wasn't nearly as bad as the movie made it out to be. Even the players who were there will tell you that. Bryant's methods there were no different from the majority of coaches of his era.

And the team went 1-9, lol. Bear learned not to run them into the ground the next year, and they won more games.
Don't know if he was the greatest coach, but he was the best at getting his players to play hard for him. I had one like that in high school.
He is definitely the best of his time and probably the in the top 3 of all time

I was just telling my cousin about this movie. He is named after bear. Name is in the books at the Bear Bryant museum at Alabama.

Bear could had bo Jackson at Alabama but he didn't play freshmen instead Auburn beat bama bears last year.Hell he was still 19-6 against Auburn
