@@Tennisnerd The fact that you have the balls to try a racquet in a tournament situation is something that seperates you from other reviewers. To me this is a big factor with choosing a racquet. You can hit really well with a new racquet for 30 mins with no pressure. But will it be better or worse than your current racquet under match pressure? This can be especially true for heavy racquets, they give you that plow through but can you swing it well when late in the 3rd set of your 3 hour tennis match in the heat? Lastly, i'm a little surprised you didn't mention the Head Boom Pro as a direct competitor to the VCORE 98 Tour, it is the only other raquet with this type of square shouldered head shape and it has a similar weight.
Love my Tour's...switched over from the regular 98's. Awesome spin (and somewhat surprisingly power), great stability and plow-through while still moving quickly through the air.
@@cekinekshn The weight gives you some bigger first serves and forehands, a little better to volley with. The launch angle is the same so its no better in that regard. I also struggled with the launch angle on volleys and half volleys especially but it gives me free topspin on my too flat forehand so i'm still trying to make it work 😂
Switched from RF97 autograph to this one a couple months ago. Took some time to get used to the more flexible racquet, but it’s so much easier to swing than the RF. Easier to generate a forehand cross court angle with this than the RF because it’s a lot faster.
I thought I loved my Vcore 95, and then I added weight to it...and wow it feels so much nicer. helps you get some depth on the flatter shots, making it easier to put away points when the opponent makes a mistake. I think it's for the exact reason you said about the racquet feeling a bit flimsy the more off-center you hit the ball
Dang it, Nerd!!!! I had my mind made up on the 95 with a little bit of weight but now I have to try the 98 Tour! I played 3 sets with 95 and really liked it. Not sure if the tour will be too heavy for me for a tournament . Dang it I’ll demo this one now and try to see which one I prefer
If it helps people, I'll say that lots of folks on the Tennis Warehouse forums have experimented with trying to bring the regular 98 to Tour specs but they all agree this is really difficult and that the Tour feels a lot more natural as itself. I've played with both, though mostly the Tour. The regular was just too low in swingweight for me so I immediately knew I'd be customizing. After looking at what other people did, it sounded like the shortest and easiest path was to just go for the Tour since any additional customization would be much smaller. So I got a Tour and it's been solid. Only issue (and this is the same for all the VDM sticks) is the feel, which I couldn't really get into. Eventually ended up with the Percept 97D and it's been racket bliss ever since.
Wish it was easier to find these in my area. None of the local shops hold the tour versions of most rackets since they are for a smaller demographic of players. Ordered a demo on TennisWarehouse over 2 months ago and still just waiting and hoping 😅
I have not tried this racquet but I really like the 95 with a little lead tape on head so I think I’m just going to stick to the 95 bit now I’m curious about the 98! I’ve only tried 95
Is there any chance you could do a video on how to spec up the regular 305 98 to the vcore tour specs? I know the layup is different but I'd like to test out how the vcore tour would feel to swing with my 305
@@Tennisnerd true, I just thought you'd tell us if there's any difference at all because of the paint job and why did head go for this marketing gimmick. Anyway, no worries, love your content!
i found it really launchy (normal 98 weighted to tour specs) there was another review that compared 98 weighted and tour side by side and tour was better... the 98 was just so launchy with string movement at the top being a LOT.... how is the tour? its fine if its consistently launchy, but inconsistent launch was an issue. stiffer strings seems to help a lot (tour bite)
the only place I haven't tried to customize a racquet is in the throat, what does lead in the throat of the racquet do? What do you feel after vs end of the handle or wrapped in the handle??
Is the stringbed same as the regular 98,meaning stiff and weird, difficult to get it right? Been playing with vcores over 2 years eventually sold others and only kept the 100 2023 due to awkward string bed on both 98s. Switched to percept 100d customised to 340stw 330sw...
Not tempted....too heavy for me...I originally bought a 98L as I need speed on my swing. Eventually it was indeed a bit unstable so I added some weigh to pretty much match a regular 98... not going up more. I also have a 95 which is quite heavy as well but I use it mostly in friendly matches and sometimes in tournaments when I need more control. It is however the best racket in terms of feeling I have ever tried
Radical Pro is stiffer in feel and has lower launch angle. Vcore Tour more spin, less control. Similar stability. You feel the pocketing better with the Vcore Tour.
You must explain cleaning rackets. It's fine a little detergents to help remove etc on the head body and strings. Just add this your stringer is the supplier the string you asked by the racket and grinet great location means well there's a que, genuine like long way q. So the racket in the cubbard is a need to be cleaned basically I payed quiet enough as strings match the nerd if the frame and so hugy the day I played. Where's the Love? Hmm cleaning but it's time where were we? As and the sooner one begins the sooner the play can rebegins. It rained last month. Generally if I'm this addicted I need sleep locker shoes and thexsicjs my sleep they work my needs my diet it then seems ok to wait two months to hit another ball. To he lesson is learning to tell a joke but the person must begin to smoke you can read that joke selected . Forberm nice
If you find a racket you REALLY like but it doesn’t do you favors in tournaments, you can always stop playing tournaments 😅
😂👊🏻👍🏻
You know it. I haven't played a tournament since I was 14 😂

Don't forget the Tecnifibre Tflight 315 ISO, impresive racquet
Awesome review. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!

What's the difference between 98?
High launch angle really annoyed me and that's why I switched to Pure Aero 2023 and Tecnifibre Tempo 298.

Thank you for this video with the information with Yonex Raquests ive been eyeing this racquet for a while now
No problem 👍
I’ve been loving this frame for a couple of months. Slap some Yonex leather in the handle and it’s money. Awesome frame
What strings do y use?

Yeah, not so easy to get the regular one up to the specs of the Tour. The Percept 97D is a good choice
I'm still using my 2021 & 2023 ezone 98 tour
those are good bats
This is the racquet I want. If they released it in Sand Beige, I'd buy it immediately. Until then, I'll stick with my Dunlop sx 300 tours.
They did release it in “sand beige”.
Nm, Tour vs Regular spec. My bad.
@@dustyroot4708 Not the Tour as it's only available in the original colorway (as tn noted in the video)

I would recommend a 1.30 string and go down a kg to calm down the launch angle and give some control.
Better to go for 98 normal and add weight the way u like I think
@@SaqibSheikh Disagree. I tried that and couldn’t reproduce the feel of the Tour.
@@1S4Per ok fair enough. I get what ur saying. If u prefer feel of tour then makes sense
Great video! How was the string durability with the wide string spacing?
I think pretty good for what it is. I don't hit with massive top spin, though. But for me, even Alu Power has lasted a decent amount.

Another great video! You mentioned adding a bit more weight. What was your final static weight and head light balance? Thx!
Thanks! I am not sure I need to add anything, I went to 350 SW but that was a bit too much. Currently I only have weight in the handle, maybe 4 grams.

Even though I'm a Babolat snob, Yonex is my next choice!
Topspin bebe toujours ! Excellent video. Merci. Je jouer avec le Babalot Pure Aero jaune banane.
Could you make a video of the speed legend? (Couldn't find one)

Very tempting to try, interesting option for heavy baseline hitting and spin serving... By the way, how serves were for you?

You can tame that launch with a 1.30 string and 1kg or so lower tension.

It adds overall weight and some stability without increasing swing weight a lot or affecting the balance.

how did you like percept? I love the vcore 98 2023. vcore 98 2021 did not enjoyed it at all
I guess you just need to have a good control string setup to counter that control issue

Be careful with twistweight infos from Tennis Warehouse...They are often not true
The VCore has the least TW compared to Percept and Ezone FYI

How would you compare to head radical pro?
