@@ahokkumar2775 संजीव कुमार, धर्मेन्द्र और अमिताभ के बिना अमजद गाँड़ मरवाते नज़र आते उस फ़िल्म में। अमजद झाँटू अभिनेता थे । सलीम-जावेद के लेखन की वजह से शोले में चमक गये।
सबूत ये है कि शोले के बाद अमजद हर फ़िल्म में मोटाये हुये चूतिया जोकर ही नज़र आये।

This film was the costliest film of it's time(1980). But the makers encountered a lot of problems from the word go. Dharmendra and Hema Malini decided to opt out of the film. Sanjeev Kumar mentioned in an interview that he was given the option of doing the main villains role or the one done by Sunil Dutt, but things didn't work out and he too walked out. And the rapport between Amitabh and SJ gradually came to an end. SJ team split just before the release of this film.
Agar Vinod Khanna iss film mein hote toh yeh film hit ho gai hoti..
At that time he was very firm in his decision to leave his acting career and spend the rest of his life in sanyas.

@@voiceofreason192 let's not compare it with sholay though it's Ramesh sippy directed. Dharmendra's absence is not reason for being a mediocre movie. But this movie lacks emotions n feeling, that's right.

ये फ़िल्म अच्छी होने के बावजूद भी दर्शक नही खींच पाई थी। कारण इसे शोले से तुलना करके दर्शक देखने गए थे, पर शोले से अच्छी नही लगी।जबकि फ़िल्म पूरी तरह से फिट थी।

Saleem and Javaedh wrote tight scripts like in Hollywood movies, whereas in the Hindi film industry every movie had to include romance, songs, comedy, etc. So long as SJ wrote their scripts Hollywood style, they made very successful movies like "Zanjeer", "Deewar", " Sholay", "Don", etc. Even though these movies had songs and romance, they managed to strike a balance and didn't let it break the flow. But in "Shaan" they failed in the screenplay.
