  • This is the fourth mission of the Allied Campaign, Last Chance.
    This mission is similar to the previous one but can be considered harder since it has a timer. The timer will start counting once you deploy your MCV. One of the most important things to do, is to garrison the Sears Tower which will reveal the whole map. Once again, there are a few things in this mission that you might not know.

    I have always been surprised at how easy this mission is. Usually missions in strategy games with timers (both literal ones, and the "my enemy has now spammed so many units that I cannot win" timers) are infamous for being quite hard and very annoying, since you don't have much time to think about the situation, nor to build up your base, but in this one... you start off with so many units that you might as well not have been given an MCV.
    Also, that tower-like building across the bridge, found east of the McBurger Kong has a destruction animation. Just a small detail.

      I just spammed all the available units to the soviet spawn along with newly built grizzlies lmao, that's how I finished Black Forest.

    Wow, I actually didn't know about the Sears Tower! And here I thought that I knew everything about this 20 year old game.
    I once tested what would happen if the nuke silo was blocked or destroyed. If you manage to have units blocking the silo, it never appears. Doesn't really change anything though. I also destroyed the silo by force firing with elite V3's, but a new silo would always be built.

      @@flaminghailstorm9149 If I remember right I just built a lot of amphibious transports and set them moving over the silo spot via waypoints.

    The Cop Cars are armed with the universally useless Technician Pistola.
    4:06 units exiting transports and getting stuck happens. You can try ordering the stuck units to move to a tile blocked by more sandbags.
    9:17 you might be able to get the crates by garrisoning the buildings too. That's what I remember from the Soviet missions that had similar triggers, anyways.
    Also, money crates always give one map pre-set amount of cash; how high that pre-set amount is, is another question. I think CrateID 6 + SoloCrateMoney= control this.
    9:50 can confirm; 5 monkeys spawn. They're scripted to guard after spawn, I think.
    Something else you might not know: if you destroy the red blobs (actually a Soviet ConYard) to upper-right, you prevent the Nuke Silo from getting built; that doesn't stop the mission from progressing, though.

    I kinda question sometimes that why did Yuri not make a similar amplifier later on?
    sure the Psychic Dominator was able to connect to other devices and literally mind control the entire world,
    but you still needed at least one in each city to make sure it was mind controlled.
    The Psychic Amplifier on the otherhand could control an entire continent and you would only need like a few around the world to control everything.
    and you would also need less forces to spread thin defending each Psychic Dominator.

      According to the lore, Psychic Amplifier have never been tested and was actually a subject to live-testibg in Chicaco, before you destroyed it.
      While Psychic Beacon, a predecessor of an infamous Psychic Dominator, saw a success in controlling Washington DC.
      The fact that you still manage to gather a force, not to mention a reinforcement that come to help you later on, mean that its effect is very lackluster and unstable.
      In fact, the reason why Yuri have to rise to power in the first place was because the Psychic Beacon failed to bring the entire Allied resistance under its knee. The difference between the Soviet and Allied campaign is just a thin line of wether or not the Psychic Beacon are effective as intended.

      I think that the Psychic Beacon would require some time to take effect on the intended targets post-activation. The Soviets have to defend it for some time on that Soviet mission where you capture the Battle Lab, and on the St. Louis mission Tanya's group has some time to actually get in there and destroy it.

      @@johncarter4956 Yeah, that's right. Yuri made a design error in the Phychic Amplifier by two orders of magnitude. It would actually never have worked. That's why his next design was the improved Psychic Dominator. Be one with Yuri!

      @@johncarter4956 sometimes I think Yuri did this intentionally so Soviet and Allied forces would fight and weaken eachother before he would take over and seeing from Yuri's Revenge, this plan indeed succeeds and Allies have to use a time machine to go back in past and change the out come.

    It seems that on different computers with different version of Windows, the “enemy” part at the destroyer intro could get cut off. My Windows 10 does that and I have to drag game speed to medium so I can hear it, with a few extra frames before I can control my units. Maybe there has something to do with slight processor timing difference. Old DOS games did that a lot, as they developed the game with a specific processor speed in mind. Don’t think RA2 was developed because of that but still. This technique is rarely seen in newer games (such as CNC3 and RA3).

    Excellent walkthrough! For example, I always went through this mission differently - I just floated along the right channel to with destroyers, ignoring all enemies (something like a speedrun), and in the end my strength was just enough to destroy beacon.

    I always “go to the heart” and kill amplifier asap ignoring the other soviet base entirely. But oh well, without V3, taking down those garrisoned buildings take a LONG time.

    I have a little Tip for you.
    When you use youre Rocketeers and move to the Noth/East of the map, is there a Building (Only seen on minimap) to destroy. When you did this, there will nevre sparn an Nukesilo. the Outro will still come, but there will be no Silo xD

    First of all, I never knew about the Sears Tower. I knew there were crates and stuff on the right but never go after them. The one thing I do differently is take the units in the begining over to the right and bypass the Grand cannons completely.

      It's an MCV out of map put there for scripting purposes

      @@Ivanical Nope, the silo is build with script in the position of the amplifier, the out of map building that you can see in the tip right corner of the minimap is an MCV. I've looked in the map editor.

      @@Hamentsios10 I tried playing it right now and it shows a silo. When I destroyed it, with rocketeers the nuke silo doesn't appear after destroying the psychic amplifier.
      different game patch maybe?

      @@Ivanical That doesn't make sense, in the map editor, the nuke is built from a triggered event, the building on the side is mcv. I dont know how you see the nuke there since its not even visible ingame.

    Geez, this brings back flashbacks of Southern Belka, Cascadia's Prospero and Presidia, Kharak, Cascade Falls, the Mushroom War bomb, Virmire, and the launching of the Liquid Tiberium Bomb...
    So many lives lost in an unthinkable flash...
    Edit: Shame this game doesn't make it a big deal. At least the events mentioned (for context, they're from Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, Project Wingman, Homeworld, World in Conflict, Adventure Time, Mass Effect, and C&C: Tiberium Wars respectively) did so well.

    Theres a trick i used to think about, what if you had an V3 launcher assigned to attack ground where the missile silo is gonna be placed before destroying the amplifier, since you lose control right after its razed, all that vladimir speech will be for nothing ^^

      I don't think you can build V3s though. In the video, look at the vehicle build que when he builds the soviet war factory and there are no V3s that you can train.

      @@GoIdLeopard We could weaken the amplifier first by heavily damaging it to low HP. Then we could have a bunch of harriers go to one side of the map, then have them force attack next to the amplifier. Then we can order our nearby units to destroy the amplifier before the harriers arrive. Then the harriers destroy the nuke silo that Vladimir builds.

      The first building should be barracks after MCV deploy followed by engineer. The selling is triggered by either severe damage or the second group of reinforcements coming, which includes an engineer.

    If you force attack the ground near the amplifier and destroy it with splash weapons like the V3, will they continue attacking after control is taken from the player? If so, is it possible to destroy the silo during the cutscene?

    I've noticed that in some missions if you do them quickly enough you'll get some benefits in the next one. Could you please investigate in more details, what a "perfect" completion gives you and when it's not the case?

      @@tsiripas I think it was ninth and tenth Soviet missions. When I completed ninth mission below par time, I didn't have nuke in the next mission, so I had to replay previous.

      It is hard to capture because it is on an island. The Engineer might not fit.

    A much quicker way to complete this mission is to bypass the grand cannon entrance, and send the destroyers directly toward the psychic amplifier, along with amphibious transports. If your ships are sunk, there is enough space near the PA to unload the few units you have, and they are enough to finish it off.
    But boy, it is much more fun to establish a base and wipe out all of Vladimir's forces before he even needs to nuke them! ^^

    Is it possible to block the nuclear silo placement by spamming transport and giving them move order to the place where the silo suppose to be ? Like giving order 50 transport to move and destroy with massive number of rocketeer. That should have block it completely

    i just wanted to say that your Red alert 2 missions are quite amazing
    however there is a mod for red alert 2 where you can get more missions for all factions
    the Mod is called Mental Omega it has everyting that you need and with a brand new units and structures
    you can download that mod
    trust me it's quite amazing
