You need to remove the cassette and fix the green seal into place, hope do have a tool to make it easier but you can do without, plastic tyre levers are good for this,no metal sharp edges. I’d pop a bit of wet chain lube in the ratchet ring to keep it sweet also I’ve used the dt grease on the pawl and spring seats to keep them moving. Still working as should? Atb John 🏴
I had that issue with an almost brand new Hope 20Five rear wheel on my Fairlight Secan. Their service is great, so is Hope. It’s not lack of maintenance or too much water or anything like that. Hope replaced my wheel and mentioned they had a issues with some steel pawls that were not treated correctly, causing them to corrode.
It has never been serviced, with no grease, no cleaning. Water got inside and corroded all parts. I service my DT Swiss freewheel every second month! It takes few minutes same some special light grease.
Back in 2001 I bought a Santa Cruz chameleon and specced it with hope gear (C2 brakes, sport hubs). The original rear hub is still running on that bike (which i sold to a mate a couple of years ago). Never serviced, still spins smoothly, no slack.
the way you pressed the freehub on, already attached to the cassette- you have no way to push the green seal into place. it needs to seal up against the hub body. it is a simple push into place but with the cassette attached you cant push on it.
I didn’t have a chain whip at the time, I’ll place the seal on tomorrow as I’m borrowing one off a friend. Appreciate you though, Thanks for the heads up 🙌🙌
Just needs good clean and grease the springs look better quality compared to the pro4/3/2 stronger and longer lasting i cant wait to get pro 5 one day😊
Apparently the pro 5 is not as strong as the pro4 in the drive ring department was told this directly from hope i have stripped 3 pro 4 drive rings replaced under warranty but still a pain rebuiding wheels its sad now one has any power or rides up steep shit .
I think you need to get some grease on the free hub paws. I had a similar issue with a vel hub that has actually rusted onto the spindle. There was no grease in there at all. Also didn’t have a serviceable hub so I ended up having to by a new freehub for it.
Cheer, Just do not understand how its washed the old grease out though? Absolutely melted my head trying to figure it out. I am sure the seal has popped out and then water got inside.. Back to normal now anyway!
@@StevenHandDH in my case it wasn’t helped by being in a humid environment when it had been wet. Maybe the back of your van and the temperature of the vehicle could have done it.
I had this same problem with my hope pro 5 rear hub. Its not even 2 months old not even ridden on water or raining. I emailed hopetech They replied about some pawls newly produced where not stored properly and suffered rusting.i got a warranty on Local hope provider they only replaced the pawls and springs sadly some parts were rusted.
Well it could happen if you do a lot of pressure washing .. I would recommend to take off cassette and double check on green seal maybe it was off some point .. Really shocked to see so rusty inside they are on market maybe 6 months only
That makes sense the only way to get that shit green thing in is to take the cassette of and to stop it happening again which it will you need to grease both the paul and spring pivot holes and the drive ring with good grease i use slik honey works well and ake sure the green thing hope call a seal is in its like fitting a tyre in a way it will make sense with the cassette of good luck .
you need a press tool kit to properly seal the free hub..... cassette need to be removed to seal it properly.... you can manually press the seal but you will have a hard time pressing it.
Doublespring doesnt work due to the new design of the Pro5 springs. (You wont get the pawls in with two springs) I went with the Trial-Spring-Kit (HUB561) - gets a good amount louder, easy to install and not to expensive.
I had a issue at bike park wales, The cassette started to get loose and the cogs moved separately. When I got a new bike i left this wheel in the back of the van. I think the guy that fixed the bike never put the seal back in correctly. So water got in when i hosed it down. The rest is history
I just do not understand where its gone though? I am sure the seal has moved or come off and water has gotten inside while the wheel was turning and washed it out. Absolutely baffled me

It’s not even six months old, Shouldn’t be like this already

Aaaah the Pressure Washer club.
😂
Incorrect, But nice try haha
@@StevenHandDH I know that’s a common Proplem with the Pro 5. so I will clean it every three months. In the Hope that’s my Hope goes not so Rusty
And i don’t remove the grease for the sound on this model 😅
And the bearing looks alive 😮
Because it’s SS bearing 😊
Use mobil xhp 222 and never had any problems with my pro4s…
Damn dude, these free hub guts look like you send the rear wheel diving and left it for good 😲
Do what we do 😂

There’s nothing wrong with it other than neglect.

I would say your not wrong, Just surprised me how the actual grease had been washed out. Going to put more inside it I think

Aluminium rusts too, just bit lower pace than steel. Stainless steel is best at resisting outdoors.

Have someone tried to use Dubble Springs in the Pro5 for Sound upgrade? Because it’s seems to be a terrible Idear to remove the grease on this Model 😂

Hope does barely put any grease inside from factory. Need to remove freehub, clean and put some dumonde tech freehub grease.
When you have to maintain parts 🤯
That's why king is best best tolerances best bearings strongest hub nothing better never had to even tighten a king hub had lots of them
There should be grease inside

I would bathe the whole ratchet area in Pro Gold Pro Link chain lube. That stuff is magic.
Doesn’t work wonders yeah?
Easiest job in the world
You need to service your equipment man.
Nice job bud
