When someone tells you that golf is boring you direct them to this final round. Couldn’t believe the rollercoaster of emotions.
Yeah there were more twists than in a Hitchcock movie.
Damn right! Hitting that bunker on 18 nearly made me sick 😂
Sod the last day. The last 2 days has been an absolute treat. What a competition. What a festival of sport. Truly emotional
But golf is a bit boring. It's like autistic cricket.
I use to find golf boring but recently fell in love with the game. Ironically as my own game got a lot better I started to enjoy watching it a lot more.
The fact that he was so honest about the nerves and the pressure and how it affected him is pretty refreshing. I feel in many professional sports it's stigmatized to feel / succumb to pressure so it's nice to hear an athlete speak honestly to it.
Yes, first time to hear a professional golfer admit being nervous.
When is he going to beat Nick Faldo's record.
Every major winner says they felt pressure foo
Spent too much time in America, please don't cry anymore 😂
His next (and biggest) challenge is plain to see ... been there. 1st step fire his psychologist - his comments were revealing and ignorant at best
"We would've taken this Monday morning." Greatest words a caddie has ever given at The Masters.
Yes, that was an incredibly substantive answer and insight into how Rory's personal mental drama was unfolding. Even Rory's press conferences are better than most.
100%. To have that clarity of thought to calm your player down with such wise words 👏👏👏
and at that moment... no better time. You can always say that stuff at the end of a football season, like "3mos ago we would've taken being a wild card" when everyone is disappointed you're not a 2nd seed. lmao All about perspective!
What does he mean by that?
@@trooperdru2727 If he was told at the beginning of last week the situation he'd be in at that moment, tied for first, he would have been over the top happy.
Rory is a class act! And so is Justin Rose! Two champions.
He wasn't when he choked last year and gave Bryson the win 🤷🏽😂
@@Quack_attack_and this is now, and Bryson choked. What’s the point of your comment?
There's always one sad little man troll doing the rounds@@Quack_attack_
@@lakerfan7324Bryson didn't choke. He's not on Rory's level. Rory played some Godlike Tiger shots in that last round DeChambeau could only dream of hitting.
@SuziesAshes10 lol tiger didn't choke in his prime...you think tiger misses that putt to win on 18? Drop it in the water?
Nope, never prime tiger and never prime jack...there was nothing tiger-like about rorys performance
Rory has come full circle with me. His humbleness and truthfulness are so awesome now. He held up the Tour when everyone was scrambling for cover during the LIV garbage. I have been pulling for him now in the last few years and glad he got it done.
Yes thank you. No PGA today. No Jay. He stood up for them and the screwed him. Makes me wanna punch a wall
What’s wrong with LIV? Rory has less opinion than you do about this.
Are you kidding? The PGA and him (it's toy boy) are what made all this LIV situation, a crappy one. LIV is great for the sport, and the PGA was just afraid of staying behind. Just an effing empire trying to destroy new competition. Imagine if the European tour tried the same when the PGA was becoming a thing?
@federicorusso4378 what are you on? LIV is great for the sport? I work at a golf course and non of my staff or club members watch LIV. Nobody. The Saudis are just trying to white wash their image. They could care less about golf. How many Saudis do you see walking the grounds at the masters? All it did was buy our best players off. That's not good for golf. LIV is a joke just like mikelson

When my parents said watching too much tv was bad for your health...now I understand why....7 hours of the most emotional rollercoaster I've ever experienced nearly gave me a heart attack.
So proud and happy for you Rory!!
Bet rory every year at this tourny for a decade of heartbreak. Today the man almost gave me a heartattack several times, but made it all worth it. Congrats Champ!
😅😅
Same here😂😂😂
The last time I backed him at all was at Liverpool in 2014 because of the juicy 20/1 odds.
And he was 20/1 to be first round leader.
yes !!!
Rory is one of the tour players who still reveres the decorum and gentlemanly tradition of the game of golf. Congratulations, Sir. Good on ya.
Perhaps you should revisit last years US Open.
But why would he not speak to Bryson during the round then?
@@GreatGolfSwingsya exactly, petty stuff.

It couldn't have happened to a more well deserved person! Full of life lessons humility! Congratulations, Rory! You're an inspiration and an ambassador to those who aspire to be great at the game of golf!
Words cannot describe how happy I am for you Rory!! To me this one is so special because of the heartache you've endured. Your right when you said something about people commenting on something they know little to nothing about, but I guess that's just how some people are. I hope you understand how much this means to fans like me to see you win the Masters. I personally couldn't be more proud of you and I've never met you. Stay in this moment for a while Rory, enjoy it. You deserve it. Well done.
I agree. Words can't express the joy I feel for him winning the green jacket. 😊
Your words speak for many. Just a brilliant achievement that was hard earned.
Rory Mcilroy is the epitome of RESILIENCE. He never quit during this long eleven year drought of no major wins. Many of us TRUE golf fans rode the rollercoaster ride with him, and today was the culmination of it all coming together. Golf is fickle and so are the unfair expectations placed on players in the spotlight. It seems the most deserving, and the best man won today! Cheers to Rory and Ireland! 🍻 May you raise your GUINESS high tonight!!! Thanks for the ride!!! Your name will forever be etched in golf history. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👏🇮🇪
Exactly ! ..... thanks for the ride Rory !!!
Absolutely.. but as life teaches us, NO ONE GIVES IT TO YOU.. You have to win it . Time was in his side . He did it. ❤✌️💪
Didn’t realize it had been so long since
Even his final round was a microcosm of his last 11 years of triumphs and disappointments, and the struggle of the weight of expectations.
Congrats Rory! 🏆🥂Thank God he wasn't "markled" (if u know what I mean😬)‼😌
Absolutely one of the best final rounds of any tournament, enthralling. Congratulations Rory, delighted for you. To miss a putt to win the Masters on 18, to then go on to win the playoff, fantastic mental resilience. We all got to witness history.

Truly amazing after 14 long years. It’s the 14th April and it’s my 66 birthday today and I have Irish heritage which makes it even sweeter. You have the most incredible golf swing, the best driver swing since the early days of the best of Tiger. Your pitching wedge finally came good. Your putter was so amazing on such incredibly fast greens.
The whole world is relieved you finally got the Green jacket and the Grand Slam into the bargain. You pull off a few of the best shots of all time in the journey. Your comeback from your mishaps will be your future guardrails and future indelible strength. Well done Rory.
Congrats to Rory and Harry....you both really earned this victory and deserve to be with the greats to grab the career Grand Slam...well deserved!
I have always been a fan of Rory. While his golf is amazing I think I’m even more impressed with who he is as a person. Seems so normal and genuinely nice.

This was an historic moment for golf in many ways - it reveals that there is still a legacy to chase for younger players, and that golf is not always about money. I know, I know, Rory made a bundle, but that's not why he is so emotional about this win. It's about cementing his place in golf history and the storied tradition of a game that means so much to so many. In fact, this rekindled a bit of my passion for the professional game that has been slowly dwindling since 2021.
It was beyond exciting - I stayed standing from 13 on. Nail biter and so happy he finally WON.
All of Ireland is as proud as can be of this guy today. Thanks Rory. It’s wonderful.

Why would you assert something so easily proven wrong?
If they do a movie about this… there is no actor alive capable of capturing the range of emotions we saw when Rory walked from the green to the clubhouse after he won - amazing
I think Jim Carey would do a great job.
Why would anyone ever make a movie based on this

Perfect words from his caddie. To take that pressure and reframe it helped a lot
Can’t even fathom the nerves he must have been feeling. Being able to bounce back several times. Just amazing.
That was one of the most dramatic sporting events I have ever witnessed. I'm not even a big golf person, and I was glued to to it from start to finish. I wonder if he realises just how much everyone else was on that rollercoaster too! Make no mistake, every Master's loss he's had, gave him what he needed to win. A true testament to the importance of our falls - we need them, we can't improve without them. (from a grateful addict)
Rory!!! Good thing Rory is so open on his own because those lead in questions by the reporters stunk. How does nobody ask him about the fan support and if he knows how many ppl root for him? Rory puts a lot of pressure on himself and the media has used him as a punching bag a lot, but I think that created an incredible amount of ppl rooting for him. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen everyone I know rooting and praying he would come through. In California and everyone was going nuts when he won. Even my Mom text me saying she was so happy for him. Congrats Dude!
Nobody has used Rory as a punching bag. He gets as much or more publicity than any golfer other than Tiger and Phil over the last 15 years, but there's no way to report on him without noting that he's folded in several previous majors.

I had my last bet on him to win the Masters this week ... said to my son if he doesn't do it now he'll never do it ... and he tried hard to lose it, but what a winner he is. Rose had no momentum because he’d been finished for about 45 minutes before the playoff began. Nobody wins any golf tournament on the back of one shot. The tariff plan will evidently lead to high inflation, the high inflation is a significant reason why most retirees have sleepless nights. The increase in prices of everyday items puts them at risk of running out of money. As prices rise, the amount of money retirees can withdraw from their retirement savings also increases
This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform.
