Really useful video David, speaking honestly I watched this because for years I've always wondered "why don't I fancy working in HR?" - now I can see the pros and cons :)

      So glad Beccy!
It’s an interesting career choice. There are definitely both pros and cons, I’m trying to bring more awareness to what HR involves!

HR's only purpose is to protect the company from employees.

      Hi Jack,
Thanks for your comment! That hasn’t been my experience… but I can understand why you might think that, I think it’s another myth about HR that I should have covered in the video!

@@DavidMalan01 Bruh, who writes your paycheck? The company, not the employee. What do you think a business owner is going to do with an HR rep that actually sided with an employee in a lawsuit that costs the company a lot of money?

Hey Dave, I want to point out that HR does not really have a hard skill set involving complex subjects like engineering, financial analyst, etc.. Pretty much anyone can work in HR with little training. Would you agree with this?

I would say yes if it’s an entry level position. Higher levels like specialists, generalists, etc need legal and strategic training. The higher level you go the more legal exposure you learn to deal. If HR disappeared overnight the company would get sued into oblivion.

Thanks for this video. I am looking at my career options for when I get out of the military and I found this very insightful. I’m American, but from who I’ve talked to it’s the same across the board.
