Thank you for posting these videos, they have given me some good tips on improving my techniques. I am a hairdresser, not a groomer, but I have been grooming/clipping my own dogs for years. I really want to buy the clipper you use, it seems like it is a lot more quieter than my Oster clippers. However, I see you are using attachments, and I would be so grateful if you could tell me where I can buy those attachments for the clippers you use. Thank you!!!

Not all Maltese are anywhere near this blessed. Anyone wanting one or who just loves the breed please help them get out of the shelters alive. I am in So. Cal. and sadly too many are ending up dumped. You can find them in San Jacinto Humane Society shelter, high kill as well as Moreno Valley, Riverside County animal shelter, also very high kill shelter Lancaster, CA back yard breeders everywhere I have pulled out drop dead gorgeous dogs there...please if you love the breed help them, they are all angels. Thank you.
+Rapture Ready I adopted my Maltese from a rescue that pulled her out of a shelter in So Cal. She was brought here to Washington state. She grabbed my heart the instant I saw her. My baby girl. Breeder just didn't want her anymore. So glad she didn't have to stay in the shelter more than one day.
+Judy Avramis What rescue group did you get her from? How did they do the transport? I rescue Maltese among other dogs and get inundated with out of state interest, but most won't ship. I am glad you got your fur angel and I wish others would do the same that way. The shelters are so full of amazing dogs right now. The economy is just not good. Enjoy.
Rapture Ready The rescue Furever Homes run by Sharon Gold in Tumwater Washington. The conditions at the rescue weren't very good, I just couldn't leave her there. They transported 22 dogs from So Cal. in a van.
oh my gosh I know her!! She was a huge rescuer down here in the LA area... How do you know the conditions were not good if you had the dog shipped to you? Money is always horribly short in rescue!! Thank God you got that baby though. I would love to see a picture!! I adore Maltese so much...thanks for letting me know. I had heard she had relocated to Oregon. She helped me facilitate some very large rescues, like 120 dogs or so out of East LA. Wow poor thing probably needs donations. Terry Crisp (or is it Krisp?) was a wonderful rescuer who I worked with during Katrina and she got maybe millions donated to her during Katrina, well the govt. raided her facility in Northern California took all the animals and all the donations. This can be a wicked deal. Then she started a group getting military dogs to the US again the govt. went after her and slammed her on CNN and she is not allowed to rescue any animals any more...she was and is such a nice person too.

I love your videos and I have a beginner question, how did you train your puppies to tolerate grooming so well? I am hopeful of adopting my first Maltese this year and want our brushing and grooming sessions to be as enjoyable for my puppy as it is for your puppies. Thank
Elizabeth Lowery They visit the grooming table at minimum 2x every day. When they were puppies, we would go up on the grooming table just for a 2 minute brush out and lots of kisses and individual attention. The puppy months are also great to just have them on the grooming table and get them used to their feet being touched etc, BUT WITHOUT using any tools. Even now as they are very much used to the grooming table, I will sometimes just put them up there to love and adore them with lots of kisses and individual attention, so they can always associate the grooming table positive experiences. Good luck with you new puppy and Happy Grooming!
Smart tying up the ears great idea cause I cut to much by accident . I did not clip her ear or harm her in any way but I was trying to grow Maggie’s hair long around ears so her ears looked thicker I cut too much
Is holding the dog by the hair under the chin the best way to get them to stop moving? Was there ever a time your dog or another you groomed was uncooperative and how did you get them to sit still?
Very helpful! I wonder what size comb you are using? Is it better to use metal combs vs plastic? Also could you please share some info on scissor brands and lengths? I liked the short body cut, it made the legs and head really stand out. Nice work! Dolce is so patient, what a sweet dog!
+Lass-in Angeles We recommend the stainless steel combs. The SS combs are far and away better then the plastic ones. We like using the #30 blade setting with a 3 mm RED or the 6mm PURPLE Wahl SS Comb, but you could definitely go longer and still get the same style. Thanks for visiting us.
Tell me about the tool that you use when you are doing the top knot. where you put it through the top knot and pull it back through. Where do I get one. Love your video!!
Put the point of tool from center behind TK into the front...Video shows it at 21:19 in this video. The tool is linked in Amazon at astore.amazon.com/malteobess-20 Good luck and Happy Grooming!
Can you show a video on how and where to grow out hair around the face ears and back and front of neck. I keep Maggie’s face Lin a teddy bear cut but not sure how and where to keep the hair by her neck ears long. Maggie has yeast issues around the ears and in the ears so her hair is super thin how can I make her hair look fuller. What do I let grow. I like to keep her on legs long. She is 11 very cute now mostly long hair but I think I might cut hair under ears too short.
I have also cut Maggie’s hair on top of her head short not possible to have any top knots. I’d like to grow it out but it’s to keep it looking good before it get long proves a challenge

Hi, Love your videos! It appears that you are using a 1/4" blade for the body of your puppies. I am puzzled that they look so fluffy. I tried using the 1" and then the 1/2 inch guide for my first attempt. I was disappointed that he does not look fluffy or even. It seems like some of the hair wants to lay down smooth. The hair seems to grow from all directions so I tried cutting from all directions, but it did not come out very well. I thought I tried and fluffed the hair out before I started. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! MJ
+M.J. Martin Trimming in all directions will not result in an even cut. Prepping the hair after a thorough shampoo and conditioning by force air drying will help get the hair to stand up in more of a uniform direction so that when you run the clipper along the lie of the hair, you will get more of a smoother cut. A force dryer with no heat using the right type of nozzle will help. You are correct that we usually use 1/4" or even shorter stainless steel comb for the torso trims (1/8" is our favorite, but it is super short). Good luck and thanks for visiting!.
in this video Dolce was shampoo'd in Pure Paws. We primarily use Pure Paws Factor Zero diluted 10:1 as a first shampoo, and then follow up with Pure Paws Ultra Reconstructing shampoo diluted for a 2nd shampoo. This changes and sometimes we use Pure Paws Silk as the 2nd shampoo. Hello I have question are you a professional dog groomer cause I have a maltese but her hair gets curly and what do you use to make it straight.... Thank you
Vanessa Santamaria Sorry -- I didn't get this message. Quite a few maltese have curly hair. Much of the hair straightening is done during the high velocity blow drying process. We spray condition and blow dry the hair as we brush the hairs straight. The best type of blow dryer to accomplish this is a NO or Very LOW heat force dryer that has a high velocity volume of air! Brushing the coat as you dry the hair is also helpful in straightening the hair shafts . Good luck!
