It’s the monster that is the industry. They get five to ten, good years, out of their top artist, and their looking for a replacement. Nicki pissed some people off, too. So they were really looking to tear her down. I was around for Lil Kim’s run. I remember some of those that came before her, but were a little before my time. But nobody can touch Nicki. Her features alone, put her way ahead of the other female rappers. As far as her doing so much for the hip hop community, it means nothing to some people. We are the only community, looking to replace those who did so much. You never heard people saying, “here’s the next Elvis.” How many times has “the next Michael Jackson” “this generation’s Michael Jackson” or “is _______ better than Michael Jackson” come up, in recent years. Even the dead ain’t safe! 😂
