That way they will have more security and privacy. Also, it is easy to monitor them to tag good breeders and bad breeders. Right now i am learning how to fish keep and how to breed them. Hello, give the birds 2 to 3 times the number of nest boxes as you have pairs of birds. NO extra hens, they will spend all their time bothering and fighting. An extra cock or two is ok, will keep the paired males attentive to their mates. If still a bully then is observed remove her.
the azola.... obviously its need more water depth means more volume and temperature are kept normal,,, that is why in the ground the water temp is controlled by water depth and ground itself...

You need more breeding boxes. They need more choice for nests. more nest boxes than there are pairs. E.g. 40 pairs 50 or 60 boxes. Negative of colony breeding is inbreeding.
Goldfish don't do well as the water temp gets above 22C, 23C. Shallow water, above ground, full sun in your climate I would not say is idea. Most kinds of azolla can take temps to 28C so if azolla is struggling because of too much heat it doesn't look good for goldfish. Goldfish can survive in warm water but it stresses them so small additional problems can cause losses.

Iam a budgie hobbiest as well,the worst thing about budgies is few will start developing appetite for blood,they may r may not be territorial but they I'll chase week adult birds r more vulnerable chicks n sip the blood ,on seeing this few other birds I'll develope such worst habbit.and by the end it I'll affect entire breeding.few I'll start breaking or drinking eggs as well .so at the earliest pick the culprit out
Why two row of nesting pot when you can make three row of nesting pots. Space out the nesting pots into three row. Too close nesting. a shallow long pool for them to bath. No more fighting.
remove the plastic sheet above the azoola tank, plastic and glass don't allow UV light from the sun light which helps in growth and sterilize water. Use quartz or any sheet with holes to limit sunlight
