The desk is terrific.
Turning the desk dark was a real game changer!! It is gorgeous!! For some reason, I think the lamp might have needed a light rub of something…antique wax on the design perhaps? Rub & Buff? Not sure, but something….you are so gifted and talented Cory!❤

MY GOODNESS, Corey...."upscale' refurbs as always; this time somehow taken up an extra notch. :) Am especially 'wowed' with that wonderful desk. SO glad you opted for a stain rather than paint. I chuckled when you mentioned how this piece is more 'high end' than what is at Pottery Barn, Anthro, etc. LOL While those trendy 'high end' stores are often fabulous (especially for inspo), their furniture quality will forever fall short of the TRUE Heirloom stuff like YOUR piece and brands like Ethan Allen, etc. How cool you're keeping it; and really love Grandma's Chair update. Perfect compliment for a 'bigger' boy's room. Fresh and Modern and Upscale. :) ENJOY Your Disney Trip!! :)

Those candle stands are HUGE... Definitely good for sitting on the floor by a fireplace, or on a mantle or side table. I think you made the right choice by leaving them in their cleaned and repaired state.

The desk is amazing! May I ask why you didn't wipe off the extra gel stain? I know it was a design choice; is it one you've seen in the high-end stores?
The chair is the only piece that could use a bit of finesse. You got off the square of the fabric on your last stapling section. You should always do the centers of all sections first, using even tension. You might be able to steam and wiggle. But I'm with you-- watch out for nice leather cushions or pillows to use as a new cover!

My favourite piece is the big wood candle stick. The desk turned out so well. I'm sure your son really appreciates what a beautiful desk he's got and looks after it well.

Here is some friendly advice! My dad has done upholstery since the dinosaurs walked on earth 😂
Before you put new fabric on, steam the foam! It puffs up almost like new. If it doesn't, the foam isn't great, and you could get new if you wanted better cushion. Never leave any old material on as it usually doesn't look very good with the new fabric over it. (Which was nice to see you take off!)
Love these transformations! The dark wood desk brough back memories of my dad working on chairs he took completely apart to reglue and cane. I love real wood furniture ❤ especially the dark wood!

I really like the lamp; it reminds me of Wedgwood's "Classic Garden" decor line from the mid-1990s. The desk is to die for, too, especially with the java finish! I had one of those 1940s traditional desks in my room when I was a teen. I don't remember exactly how it was damaged, but my mom saved that beautiful "Chinese Chippendale" hardware, which I still have.
I think the black chair looks great with the desk, and as you mentioned, a leather (even dark faux suede) would really give it a "big boy" vibe for your son's room. All these items are so high-quality, and I'm sure that what you do decide to sell will fly off the shelves!

I love florals, fruit, horses, seed packets, steam punk, trains (old steamers), beach with either storm or mermaids, mountains with bears, elk, & deer, bright colors!! ( grew up as a military brat and all white walls-ugh), lovr Art Deco & nouveau!! Etc. Just getting back to work after hand (knuckle) injury in second week of Jan 2024. 2 surgeries later and back to work!! I really Sooo Loved your lemon theme!! Wish I coulda bought!! ❤

I love the lamp and the art pictures. The desk is nice too and I think the fabric on the stool is perfect.
All so very lovely. Glad to see the slick stick! I swear by that product over glass, it really gets glass ready for new paint. It helps stuff stick so much better and you cant scrape your paint off. That rooster you hated, slick stick would have turned him white or grey, and ready for paint. I use it alot if i have a shiney surface or glass. All just lovely flips cory!
Loved all your projects! What a beautiful result when you stained the wood desk! I hope your son cherishes the work you put into it. I understand how expensive lamp shades are. I bought a $ 3.00 lamp at Salvation Army and paid $9.00 for a Wal-Mart small shade. I just about choked😮! Hey; there's a lot of buzz words out there. My favorite overused one is "I'm obsessed..." That sounds a bit scary!! Back in the 60's, I got hooked on saying, "Oh man." My Dad hated it!! I still haven't outgrown it! Guess this really dates me. Lol. We all have our peculiarities. Have a happy and safe vacation.

I think the chair was beautifully redone but for the lovely renewal of the desk it would be more fitting for yet another antique style chair of wood and perhaps a tapestry seat covering. The idea of leaving the gorgeous drawer pulls was perfect. I am totally old school in my decor tastes, having had my mom open my eyes into the world of fine woods, brass fixtures, et al . I am so impressed watching your videos.

Great job, Cory! I am not a fan of dark, but I love the way the desk and lamp were revitalized. I absolutely love botanicals and am working on a project that will eventually be my headboard with botanical prints!! I think that this vignette in front of a white or beige wall would look better, but what do I know!!?? Always enjoy your thought process and your design aesthetic! Happy Sunday!

Love the lamp👏👏👏👏 I use a small paint brush to apply RubnBuff. Cleanup is easy with alcohol; I soak the brush for a few minutes, brush is good as new😊

It’s gorgeous and Corey you’re not going to believe this but I have the exact same desk that I picked up at the Restore for $20 and it really only needs a good clean and some restore polish and I’m so happy you just kept the old hardware because so am i😊!! Thank you so much!!

Love what you did with everything, I'm pretty confident that everything will sell quickly. The stain in the applicator bottle is like back in the day when we all polished our shoes we used shoe polish in bottles like that. Put the polish on, let it dry and then buff them for a great clean shine....somethings never change.

I really like what you have done today. My only suggestion is to replace the lampshade with one that is the proper size. The one you are using is about an inch or so too long for the base. I enjoy you site!

One of the things I love about antiques Is the fact they are built to last, built with real wood! Of course I love anything old & made from wood, large or small, its just a passion😊 The desk is beautiful! I would love to have an old roll top. Love the stain color you used! The chair Is super cute! I collect antique & old vintage chairs just to sit around my home for decor.. usually with something else in the seat too. Anddd you guessed it..i collect old vintage lamps as well!😄 The lamp is gorgeous!❤ I love to collect art & ornate frames. Those are so pretty! The large candle stand turned out gorgeous! Both those pieces look really good in this vignette. As always you did an amazing job.. all the pieces are absolutely beautiful! TFS😊

I can only speak for myself, but if your son is young enough to be getting a big boy room, I would line the desk drawers with contact paper. This piece is good quality and will probably last him through high school, at least. But right now, he may not be old enough to understand that a drawer full of loose crayons or colored pencils would mark up the drawers and be difficult to remove. Modern contac paper is easy to remove...if you hit it with a heat gun it softens the adhesive and it will peel off cleanly and leave no residue.

I love the desk and the lamp - I would think a chair that is of similar wood color would complete the desk a bit better. The desk seems more "high end" and the chair, although very cute, does not. I can picture that desk in a home office or library with mahogany paneled walls and high coved ceilings and tall window with gorgeous burgundy velvet drapes. Yum!

You did that desk justice❤ the floral pics are beautiful. I just finished 24 8x10 frames with floral pics I cut out of a book of Victorian florals. Doing a gallery wall in my hallway. I do, however, have to bring someone in to properly hang them up using a laser, I know my limits 😂
