Thanks for the reminder that this is exactly what I need to do! After picking garlic I planted some kale and now it's about 8" tall and crowded. I don't need more kale so will just eat the thinnings
This year I planted three kale plants in the middle of a bed of spare onions in addition to my regular kale. The ones in the onion bed are smaller (could just be the soil isn’t as rich) but they have no slug damage. The onions were spare because i did not intend to grow so many green onions but my seed container (I save some welsh bunching onion seed) slipped out of my hand when I was starting them. My regular kale is spaced about 14 inches apart one width in three different beds and the bottom leaves all have some damage. I’ve been lazy and haven’t pruned them. Maybe that is tomorrow’s job lol
This is great motivation to get out and get some overdue gardening done. It is nice to see you have an assistant cameraman.
Thank you, Greg. I've learned some good info!

Useful info, thanks! How to prevent early bolting?
Kale doesn't bolt - I've never had it bolt
Mine has two years in a row…not eating it fast enough?
What did you plant in the other spare garlic beds?
Strawberries in one and peas in the other.
I give it easy to grow kale-I only wish my wife liked it better!
Try blanching it before cooking with it. It takes the bitterness away
