Voiceplay is from Orlando Florida. They've worked at Disney and Universal. Cesar still does shows at Disney with another group. Tony Watkins and Layne have a production company called Pattycake Productions that is fabulous. They do Disney stories put to modern music like Billy Elish. It's hilarious 😂

Yes to reacting to Little Mermaid. Layne sings! Geoff is purple! 😂
VP's Phantom of the Opera is fabulous! It was their first theatrical style video and features Tony Wakim. He left the group soon after, as far as performing, but co-owns Pattycake Productions with Layne so he's still involved in most of their videos. Director, producer, costumes, etc.

Layne sings in various other songs... Some have already been suggested by others, I personally love a few old ones like "Can't help falling in love", "True colors", and some newer ones like "I can't make you love me". I don't remember if he sings in "Eleanor Rigby" as well, but it's a worthwhile song anyway. 🙂
BTW, Tony Wakim's character here is voiced by Eli, as far as I read elsewhere. 😁

One thing to keep in mind with Layne is in VPs “modern”videos he multitracks each percussion instrument individually:snare, toms, high hat, cymbals, etc.) Additionally, each member has some ability to decently beatbox (see The Greatest Show Medley).
Back in their 4:2:Five days after their original beatboxer left, Geoff taught Layne how to beatbox.
I second the votes to see Phantom of the Opera, and Little Mermaid. But be sure to check out some of Geoff’s solo stuff on his channel like Blackbird or Sound of Silence.

Layne has a beautiful voice, soft and gentle. He does sing occasionally especially in songs where percussion is not needed. Two examples are True Colours and Can't Help Falling in Love. The messenger was ex-member Tony Wakim, but voiced by Eli who does any voice overs, being a voice over artist. He also voiced Sandy Claws in the Oogie Boogie Song. Yes VP are in Orlando , Florida. They do double track at times but Geoff can do basic beat boxing as well, in fact he taught Laybe initially. There are some videos of him doing it.

The one where you can really see Geoff beatboxing is in the part works cover of Death of a Bachelor. It’s only Geoff and Earl doing all five parts. I think it’s hilarious that they have the deepest voice and the highest voice and they managed to pull it off. There are also some old videos of Geoff when he was working at Disney where he was boxing and doing bass. They’re dressed like train conductors and Earl is there as well.

VoicePlay calls Orlando, the theme park city, home. All the members and most of the guests have worked at Disney, Universal or any of the other parks, and it helped hone their skills, knowing what the audiences are wanting. Black Hole Sun was the title you were searching for. New fellow is Tony Wakim who was the baritone before he decided to do productions so he and Layne became co-owners of Pattycake Productions studio. Layne did this project, Hellfire, but Geoff didn't want to be that bad of a villain. The other guys all took a part of Frollo's psyche - J None asks Maria to protect him, Eli is wrapped up in desire for Esmerelda and if it isn't happening, burn her, Cesar is blaming God for making the devil so much stronger than man. Tony is the person who comes out to tell Geoff (voicing is actually Eli). VoicePlay has done Phantom of the Opera. I'm looking forward to your doing that and Drunken Sailor!

I really enjoyed your reaction- thanks! I agree with the other Voice Player's comment about reacting to Voice Play's "Little Mermaid Medley" as it includes some singing from Layne and is very theatrical with the beatboxing effects. You would also love "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "Phantom Of The Opera" for Layne's singing and using beatboxing for theatrical effects. Voice Play is a group from Orlando Florida and all members and their frequently featured guests have worked as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks so any of their theater covers, Disney covers, or spooky Halloween themed covers are very well done.

The beatboxing effects are the STAR in this one, but since it was arranged to highlight Geoff's bass and the harmonies, it get's overtaken by the 100 piece 5 person Church Choir and the church pipe organ that they sing.
All of the members can beatbox although Layne is the lead. Fun fact, Geoff was the groups beatboxer after their original one left - yes he carried beats while dropping bass notes. He was one of the people who helped Layne learn and turned him from their (i believe) baritone into the drum machine that he is today. Layne also has other surprise skills that show up occasionally... (Warriors and Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) of interest, but they are many)
Layne is part owner in Pattycake Productions and their studio is often used by the group... These highly produced videos are usually recorded as each performer on a separate set of tracks and arranged through their favored software.. Layne, Geoff, and Eli work on the arrangements and the production. So the beatboxing while Layne is singing could be one of the other singers covering small tracks or it could be Layne recording filler and including it into the mix... Their cover of The Greatest Showman demonstrates this best as it has a small section where they throw the beatboxing from performer to performer so quickly that many reactors miss it.
It will become apparent soon how DEEP of a kangaroo hole you just fell down with VoicePlay... (no rabbit can dig THIS deep)

Tony Wakim is an early member. If you want to see him more, my advice is the Phantom of the Opera cover. Tony is the Phantom. Tony, along with Layne seem to own Patty cake Studios, and he runs it. Layne does get to sing sometimes. For a real treat, check out their Moana Medley and You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. Both have Layne getting some lead time. As mentioned, Tony acted as the Guard, but Eli did the voice.
