I got the nano texture display and I highly regret it, most likely will be returning it. Honestly, whatever you hear on youtube, bear in mind that it is simply another matte display, nothing more nothing less. Colors are way less vibrant compared to my other Macbook Pro M2 glossy display and the whites are simply bad.
I’m glad I went to see it in person before I bought my Mac book . Not a fan either. It washes out the colours , and makes the screen look cheap, almost like one of those e-book reader tablets for old people. Plus we don’t know how it will hold up over time and if glare is such an issue I am sure their will be matte screen protectors available
The nano screen looks terrible in all the videos while the presenters talk about how amazing it is haha Instead of a point reflection, you get a whole patch of white blocking off a whole quarter of your display! Neat And then the colours are all muted as well. No thanks
I honestly love mine... in saying that, I came from a glossy M3 Air 15". Like anything nowadays, you can trust all preferences online, if you are going to drop that much money on something, go and check it out in person for yourself before pulling the trigger.
I don’t get upgrading the RAM to 32GB and the SSD to 2TB, both nice but expensive upgrades, yet keeping the vanilla M4 CPU. For about the same price I got the M4 Pro which already bumps the memory up to 24GB (and faster bandwidth). Also upgraded to a 1TB SSD and got Apple’s faster SSD drive. And I’ve got a processor with additional performance cores and 20 GPU cores vs 10, great if you play fairly demanding games. No it’s not going to replace a dedicated Windows gaming machine with a GeForce RTX 4090, but for games like Civ 6, Resident Evil 4, and Baldur’s Gate 3, the M4 Pro will rock out at high settings in 4K. Something the GPU-bound vanilla M4 just won’t do. I guess it comes down to what you want out of your Mac. I don’t think I could fork out for big memory and storage upgrades without getting a better processor too, but that’s just me. Especially since you can get a super fast external SSD (1, 2, 4, 8 TB) to use with the USB-C/Thunderbolt port and save a ton of money. 🤷🏻♂️
I pulled the trigger and got a base model M4 with upgraded RAM to 24GB, 512SSD (I'm not a content creator so don't really need huge storage) with nano-texture display. Can never go back. It's simply awesome!
The amount of unified memory is directly proportional to the performance and longevity of the device, when you use a lot of strenuous programs simultaneously. SSD space is highly individual depending on your needs.
I own this laptop and at first I didn't like the nano display. But then it started to grow on me. And now, it's just a joy to use. Expensive, yes, but great on the eyes and so paper-like. I was wrong, and I admit it. It's a nice screen.
Picked up mine yesterday from apple and so far I loved it. I got the base model with military discount from the website. I think it is a solid laptop use for daily basis.
I bought the base M4 with 24gb/2tb to replace my Mac mini M2 Pro as I needed something more portable. I had thought of an M3 Air, (with the same specs) and at the time it was only A$100 cheaper, that extra A$100 was a no-brainer decision for the display and the ports. Do I regret not getting an Air (or waiting for the M4 Air) ... no.
Just curious, why didn't you opt for the M4 Pro chip then instead of upgrading the base model with that much storage? Wouldn't that be more expensive than the M4 Pro itself?
@@luongbachnguyen155 I have lots of large files and loath carrying around external drives. I had originally ordered an M3 Air so the M4 was a nice upgrade. I don't need the power of the Pro for what I do. I would still be using my M2 Pro Mac mini if I didn't need something easier to travel with.

Thank you so much! Finding them to be quite alright. I read a ton of articles online and it’s not blurry at all (for me), I hear bigger displays like monitors with nano texture is worse, but on here. Not bad at all! The logo is from Etsy.
Great video but you can’t compare an M3 MAX to an M4 basic chip, of course it’s going to be slower. The M4 pro chip gives all M3 chips a run for its money apart from the M3 Ultra. M4 pro chip may be a bit slower than a max chip (sometimes) but by a maximum time of 40 seconds and on average about 4 seconds while saving $2000 😂 I will wait the 4 seconds.
lol I know I know. But I had no other machine to compare it to and it felt fair for me going from what I had used prior and praising what M4 is capable of!
If you are planning to do something GPU intensive like Gaming. The max chip will give you a massive boost. Depending on what game you are playing you’re going from 35fps on a regular M chip to 70fps on a Pro chip and 120fps on a Max chip
IDK what you on mate, first get a cs degree, work a few years in the field than review laptops, not vice versa. M4max 16core is a good bit faster than M4pro 14core. Not that i need the max just dont say bullshit. Those softwares u use are poorly optimized otherwise you would see that diff

Apple should be ashamed of putting this on a screen. I'd love to get your advice on a matter, I'm coming from a 2015 MacBook pro 16 GB of RAM 512 GB storage. I know for sure I'll get a 14 inch, but I'm unsure what to do, in Canada btw. I want to max the storage and maybe go one level up in RAM. Gaming wise I have a GameCube, PS2 and PS3 Emulators and I want to be able to play those games comfortably. I would like to dabble with basic video editing and music production being able to use Ableton and Logic and hopefully post music on Soundcloud. In addition to my other productivity tasks. In USD I can get Apple M2 Pro Chip with 10‑Core CPU and 16‑Core GPU 32GB of RAM and 4TB of storage for $2300 USD. For $100 usd more I can a base maxed out M4 with 2tb of storage and 32gb . The max I would configure is a base M4 pro with 48GB of RAM and 4TB of storage in USD that would cost $3360. Is it worth it to save $1k and just get an M2pro??
You are going to love the M4. Don't think twice about the price difference. It's worth it. If you’re confident the M2 Pro will be able to get warranty, go with that I suppose. But if you can’t, go new with M4!
You'd be coming from an Intel chip so any 'M' series chip will do you wonders. So the rule of thumb is, if you can afford it, go for the M4, if you can't, literally go for any M series chips and it will still be much better overall compared to what you currently have.

You are good to go my man, hope you went for 16gb RAM tho. I picked up my M4 base just over a week ago and I'm loving every second. The M3 Pro has better graphics and overall a more "premium" chip so if you are good with the performance stick with it. If its the 8gb ram version I would consider switching because of the bottlenecking.
I think what you have is more than what you'd need. Of course, if you want the greatest and latest, then you'd have to go for the M4, but in terms of performance, you can't go wrong with what you already got.

It was a business trip and was paid for me, although not from Apple. I’m an economy guy typically. But it was nice to have experienced that though and figured used that opportunity to showcase me working on the plane.
Macbook Air is significantly better. No one actually needs more than what the Air has, that is if you are not a professional, which you would get the M4 Pro version for.
I just picked up the M4 base and it's a game changer coming from MacBook Air 2018, obviously a big spec bump but the screen is what sold me. Went to my local electronics store and compared the 60hz to 120hz and man does it make all the difference. In Sweden the base M4 pro is 2100 dollars so yeah a steep steep price but I think its worth it, I dabble in 4k video editing also so its always handy having a strong laptop than can handle it all.

Anyone else dealing with Wi-Fi issues when plugging into an external display through the HDMI port?
Don't think this is a known issue - if you have a new device and this is a potential problem, bring it to Apple sooner rather than later.
