Performing the 1880 version with the transcription error (raising the embellished part by a fourth) is okay. But don't claim that it is Allegri's 1630 fauxbourdon version.
Interesting to listen with the score - however it lacks the depth due to lack of ornamentation and repetitiveness of the parts for 4 and 5 voices. I recommend the following performance based on interpreting the original manuscripts - very expertly and beautifully done in a live concert: th-cam.com/video/zWAD9bTWRxI/w-d-xo.html
NO, NO! THIS IS THE WRONG VERSION. The pivot into C-minor that has the high C is a MIS-TRANSCRIPTION. I hate how much this error has dominated the performance world.

Do you have a link to the authentic score, i'd actually love to look at the original performance basis outside of this interpolation.
Check out the Sistene Chapel Choir's performance on the Cantate Domino album. That is the authentic version.
such beautiful mistake by Mendelssohn , is it? :D
Still beautiful. Gloria in excelsis deo!
