This doesnt happen in Melbourne cycling groups and alot of clubs say this is not a drop ride ( Meaning they wait for all to keep up and generally the lead rider will encourage the newbies to keep together) I have joined alot of group rides in Melbourne Australia and if your new and riding with strangers and you cant keep up. Then tuff titties and 9/10 you wount ride again with these groups trust me. The first group ride i went on was a disaster telling the guy i spoke to i just got back into road cycling after 10 year lay off and he said we wount let you drop off. That lasted for about 20 minutes and i was dropped from lack of fitness on my part. when finally catching up to them at half way mark ,they were off again while i needed a rest. Then when i got back to starting point no one was at coffee shop. I told the president of club is this the way you conduct your ride group. They said give it another go but they were more interested in buying the jersey top and bibs, Clearly a profit scam for these clubs trying to find some stooge to waste money on. No more club rides again and some of it is all about their merchandise. I am not saying all clubs are no good but peeps please do your homework on reviews of these clubs and i bet you will meet someone who has had a bad experience. Take care on the roads and in Melbourne Victoria, people are banning unvaxxed cyclist from group rides which is disgusting but that the IQ level of some people in Melbourne is their ignorance and racism for your medical choice to be judged on. The world has gone mad.
