Holy shit, I can’t believe this is a debut 😮 autistic girl here, the attention to detail is delicious. So satisfying! He ever play in London? I’m thinking Arts Club, Meraki would love this guy 😍
No, definitely never played London. I absolutely would if invited, though. The upside of attention to detail in mixing is that everything (mostly) works when performing. The downside is that it took a lot of time to build this one set. There has to be a happy medium in there somewhere. 😅

I am both, grateful for this exceptionally well produced session and stunned by the kewl and fine mix. Plus, Varist seems to not have the affection of putting him atop everyone else in the room, but heading for bringing everybody into a groove. Delicious 💗🤙 Liked and subscribed 🤝
Not being the center of attention is one of the things that drew me to Book Club! Obviously, that's not the case from the video perspective, but in the room, it's very much playing what you think people will love and then letting them get on with dancing to it. Thank you for the kind words. They're appreciated.
@@gazog1 You got it - it's the XZ. I was a FLX-10 user until I learned my debut was going to be on the XZ, so I sold the 10 and bought an XZ. And now Book Club has CDJ 3000s (which they were kind enough to let me practice on for a bit). But I love my XZ at home. It's a nice middle ground.

I do think it s interesting, a possible difference between generations. I've noticed some of the younger folk stay lots less time with a single track, and the older group seem to stay with a track longer.
Haha, love it. I think it's cos when we dropped half our measly paychecks on an album we learned to love the whole thing... because fast forward on a tape deck was such a pain in the neck!
Spotify effect. (Start Gen X nostalgic mode). When you get 256 guilders a month (study allowance) and a CD costs 40 guilders on average and a night out about 20 to 30, each CD was cherished. And artists consider(ed) a CD a one-piece artwork. Songs were and are carefully aragend one by one to optimize the listeners' experience, with or without gaps, for instance. Nowadays, modern CD players don't even support the full Redbook standard anymore, so CD'S that are supposed to play gapless get unintended gaps added. Slowly but surely, we are leaking so much quality from the world. (End Gen X nostalgic mode). BTW, talking about guilders, does anybody know that the hole in a CD can be perfectly filled in with an old Dutch "dubbeltje", a piece of Philips pragmatic engineering.
I think it really depends on the style of music, you see older open format DJs spinning between songs chorus to chorus, and younger techno DJs playing out a 9 minute track. At the end of the day it's all about building an atmosphere and testing what your dance floor can handle.
I'm massively lolling right now. I didn't think anybody noticed! So the story there is that the Librarian's Manifesto forbids phones on the dance floor. And, this being my first time ever at Book Club, I took this to mean don't even have it on your person. But I needed a way to know how long I was into my set, so.... Pocket watch. Fit the theme perfectly.
Someone should offer to sign this guy if not already, this disco sound is huge at the minute and this set is on the same level as some of the guys charging fortunes for 2hrs, if I just heard this without the video, would think it was a Louis Vega or a kenny Dope playing a set infront of 10k people.
