Despite facing challenges, including economic difficulties and occasional protests, Senegal remained one of the more politically stable and progressive countries in Africa.
Attracting foreign investment, especially in industries such as telecommunications, energy, and Infrastructure development. Senegal also made significant success in education and healthcare, contributing to an improved quality of life for many Senegalese citizens.
In this video I take you to an emerging city in Senegal that is being transformed into a modern smart city purposely built for the challenges of the future. But first let's have a quick look at the capital city Dakar to see what can be expected of the new city.
Later in the video we will also look at how Senegal is actively modernising its railway, road transportation infrastructure and developing its tourism industry.
Remember to like the video and subscribe to the channel.
Situated about 30 kilometers southeast of Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, Diamniadio is part of the Senegalese government's ambitious plan to promote regional development. The development project aims to create a smart city that will serve as an economic hub and address various infrastructural challenges faced by the capital city dakar.
Diamniadio is envisioned to become a major economic center for Senegal. The city is planned to host various industrial zones, technology parks, and commercial areas, attracting local and foreign investors. The goal is to foster economic growth and create job opportunities, reducing the urban-rural migration to Dakar.
Diamniadio is also intended to be a new administrative center. The government plans to move various ministries and public institutions to the city to ease the burden on Dakar and promote better governance and accessibility.
The city's development takes into account sustainable practices, incorporating green spaces, renewable energy solutions, and eco-friendly buildings to minimize environmental impact.
A modern city requires efficient transportation and infrastructure systems. Diamniadio is designed with well-planned roads, public transportation networks, and modern amenities to support the growing population and business activities.
The Train Express Regional (TER) in Senegal is revolutionizing the country's railway system and improving connectivity within the Dakar metropolitan area and the new city. A flagship project of the Emerging Senegal Plan - the country’s ambitious roadmap to prosperity
With an initial daily capacity of 115,000 passengers, the train provides a reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative to road transportation, reducing traffic congestion and air pollution in Dakar. Commuters can reach the suburbs from the center of Dakar in less than 10 minutes; travel time to the new city Diamniadio via a non-stop train is about 20 minutes. Passengers arrive three times as fast as in a taxi and pay a third of the price. This express train is an express route to progress and development in Senegal. More than six million passengers have used the train since it came into service.
Another development in Senegal that is taking mobility to the next level is the Dakar's BRT Mass Transit with 100 percent electric powered capacity buses. Aimed at Providing an efficient solution to transporte an average of 300,000 passengers per day, with a socially acceptable price.
The Dakar's BRT is Planned to be a game-changer in the city's transportation landscape, addressing the challenges posed by urbanization and population growth. It aims to offer a more efficient and affordable alternative to private vehicles, helping to alleviate traffic congestion and improve air quality.

Whoever is prosecuting these Senegal transformations is VISIONARY and really has eyes for beauty. Is it their president macky sall? Or the minister responsible for innovation? Etc? Ghana should be doing these sort of grand projects, building a completely new well planned city, modernizing/replanning Accra, building a sky train, doing a BRT with dedicated lanes, banning plastic etc etc. But...

It is really true that West Africa is rising! By 2021, West Africa’s gross domestic product (GDP PPP) was $1.714 trillion, despite COVID 19 and the European world war. Five of the countries (Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal), you have highlighted are among seven countries with per capita GDP of $3,000 or more in 2021: Benin, $3,300; Senegal, $3,500; Nigeria, $4,900; Côte d'Ivoire, $5,300; Mauritania, $5,300; Ghana, $5,400; and Cape Verde, $6,100.
As of July 2023, there were 448 million people in Western Africa. West Africa is rising!

These guys have no iota of integrity and sincerity in them. They try to recruit other Africans to join their anti-Ghana idiocy. He saw the Ghana videos oo. When he couldn't criticise how the neighborhoods look, he said Ghana was not only about the areas shown in the video. In other words, he should have been shown slums. Meanwhile, he has far more slums in his sprawling backyard. They tend to think they're doing someone when they engage in this stupid act of self-belittling. Pathetic.

All these developments are nice.. but not priority! Senegal should concentrate on job creation (see the amount of Senegalese taking the dangerous routes in search for greener pastures) not building beautiful structures for attracting tourism only! Affordable housing across the country- not just Dakar should be the focus of the next government! Let the government empower our local businesses and citizens by minimizing imports and building affordable accommodations for the masses.
