I wonder what "The Monuments Men" of WWII thought of the Allied bombing of Dresden! This city was supposed to be "off limits" to bombings. I was born after WWII. No one ever spoke of it. Now that I am older, I truly want to know the truth. Quite frankly, I don't believe it was just some crazy Englishman, but rather a group who had more to gain by Dresden in ruins, but what group? Was it hiding some hideous truths that the globalists didn't want known? Dresden was not supposed to be bombed, and yet it was. WHY?
Jeanne Baker The allied bombed the city to precipitate the fall of the Nazi regime. They didn't have to do it to win the war , but they did. Its tragic for the innocent people who died , but yea war is ugly. I don't think it will benefit you to dive into conspiracy theories.
Jeanne Baker You could be right. When an airplane crashes, you want to know why. When people want to hide the truth, you always hear "let's forget about it." You don't learn anything that way.
Tony Belf I agree much of the bombing towards the latter stages of the war were unnecessary but the madman in Berlin despite everyone accepting that the war was lost would not surrender and stated that the German people had failed him and did not deserve to survive. Many truly beautiful German towns and cites suffered horrendous damage. Thankfully today we see a very different Germany one at the heart of Europe very warm and friendly people. I visit there often have several German friends and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Thanks for your comments. I still wonder what was up with those bombings. I do not believe it had to do with Hitler's refusal to surrender. I smell a rat.
It was no longer about winning another victory against the Nazi regime. Germany was already half occupied at this time and the Soviet army was 150 km east of Dresden. The bombing of Dresden could not shorten the war, it was superfluous. Many war historicers says, It is said that it was a mere demonstration by the British bomber command to show the Soviets their power. The hot war was not over yet, and the cold war was already born. The fact that between 25,000 to 50,000 civilians died in one night and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe was destroyed, was of course a war crime, but victors commit no war crimes. Therefore war never again, wars always end perverse.
so miss living there. the people, the city...everything.
Thank you, it was a pleasure to film in such a wonderful city.
