perfect, filmed perfectly, straight to the point with no riffraff. even as someone with years of sewing, I'm self taught through trial and error and doing this perfectly is still something that frustrates me to no end. this was really helpful 😊
Saved my project that had a heavier material. My armholes with bias tape almost looked like a ruffle (Lol). This is exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. Sometimes, I just want to make a summer dress or top quickly and don’t have time for bias tape!
Thank you for watching and leaving your kind comment! Yes, sometimes bias tape is just not my jam :)
Yes. Thank you. Very clearly explained. Perfect for a beginner
Exactly what I was looking for, and easy! Thanks!!!
Love this tutorial ❣️💜. Thank you🥰
I never thought that was possible, thanks
Me too exactly what I have been looking for thank you so much for sharing
Wooo fantastic! Thank you lovely 😊
This is a great video! Most videos are for binding and I just needed this. You have a great video style. 😊
Glad it was helpful! It works great for woven fabrics, and pressing makes the magic :) Thank you for watching!
Amazing and easy
Thank you so much! Could you please show how to do this with a V-neck?
Get instruction! I just finished sewing my first sweater and the neck line is the last step. I was looking for something quick and this is a great solution! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much. I didn't have bias tape and its late at night. This will do perfectly.
Thank u dear u save my life ❤️
Wow, it looks very nice, as a newbie im struggle to learn sewing neckline with bias but this one look very easy. Thank u for sharing the idea 💞
You’re the 🐐
Thanks so much for sharing, exactly what I need to finish my kid Halloween costume! 🎃 👻
Thank you!!
fantastic! thank you
Wow. Loved it. U made it look so simple. Gonna try it. Hate bias strip😀
Just what I was looking for!! I’m doing two 1950s dresses and I didn’t wanna do bias tape on them- thank you!
WOW! The finished product looks very nice! Thank you for sharing!! It's such a simple way to sew a neckline!
Very nice... Easy to do
Thank you🙏
can you tell me why it's faster if you have a serger? I'm using one and it has a coverstitch function also.
Thanks for the tutorial, this looks so easy to do! I have a question though. I'd like to modify a shirt to have a neckline like this shape: } (but horizontal with the middle point facing down at center front, if that makes sense). Would this work for something like that, or would it be safer just to use bias tape or facing or some other method? I'm a beginner and don't know how many ways there are to finish a cotton hem/neckline haha
Beautiful result! Tell me, though, does this neckline stretch out of shape after a few wearing? I worry that it’s not substantial enough to maintain its shape. Thanks!
Your video clarified my doubt maam
Would this also work on a knit garment?
Wow this was very helpful, thank you xx ... do you think you could use a twin needle with this method?
Thank you xx I wouldn't recommend it because it might be a little thick for this method. If you want to use a twin needle I wouldn't double fold it. If you're using a thin fabric go ahead, but it will be a bit challenging :)
Thank you for this video! I'm currently working on my first project, a viking undertunic, and every other video on necklines really over complicate it.
You are very welcome! I'm glad this was helpful :)) Your project sounds so intersting!
Regarding the serger... Do you serge the edges and then fold over and stitch?
Helo, very nice video! Can I use this technique for sewing the armholes too?
Yes! It works best in an open armhole, before you sew the side seam!
Hi there, thank you so much for this video. Is it possible to do this with a larger fold-say a 1/2 inch fold?
Hi! It won’t work with a 1/2 fold since the fabric isn’t as flexible to stretch that’s much.
This was very helpful! Is there a specific reason why the seam allowance goes to the back?
Thank you Danicia! It's simply a 'sewing standard' but I now find that you can fold the shoulder seams to the front if you don't want seams to be seen from the front view. So really you can do either way as a design choice :)
Thank you for this great tutorial! Very helpful! Is there a similarly easy way to sew a V neckline?
Hi! So glad it was helpful ❤️ The easiest would be using neckline facing.
How do you finish neckline with a serger and no bias tape?
I have a lot of trouble turning the shirt and following the curve while using the machine.. what can I do to help that?
It's very useful for beginners!
Thanks a lot!
Where can I start to pin if the shirt don’t have a shoulder seam?
Wowwwww tht Was amazing n easy too
ThanQ very much for sharing this wonderful video
A small request mam
Plz make a video on how to attach an elastic to skirts n frocks…plzzzzzz
I am wondering if this would work for ITY knit fabric, too, or only woven fabric?
How can I finish the neckline on elastic, like jersey or tricot? I like a small finish , but I am a beginner
can youl tell us what kind of fabric you used? I'm wondering if this technique would work with a mid weight linen.
Hi! I used a mid-weight cotton in the video, so it would work with linen as well :)
Very nice, can you do the same technique on a silk chiffon neckline?
Yes you can! Just make sure you practice before hand also that the fabric will be obedient in your hand :)
Such a beautiful short and informative video. thanks so much. Can I please ask if you could tell me the measurements of the neck with and depth. It looks like a perfect shape for dresses. xoxoxo
Thank you Suzy! I believe it's 10 cm down from the neckline at the front, and I just hand-drew a circle shape for the neckline (a french ruler would help).
Could you use this method for a knit too?
Yes and no - I would personally use a serger and a single-fold method more often. It depends on how stretchy your knit is. You would need to try it on a scrap fabric to see if your fabric won't overstretch in the process. Thanks for the question!
Omg really thank you so much.. Im waiting for tgis only.... Can u make6a video how to cut tight pants?
What is this thing which she used after ironing?
that's a wooden tailor's clapper! It cools down the fabric, solidifying the shape and the structure of the seam :) I linked the one I recommend in the description of the video!
I know this was a year ago but that is a beautiful fabric, do you remember what it was?
do you use this method to finish all your necklines?
Not all of them, just on lightweight fabrics when I don't want to use a serger :)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
No one understands nothing except those who are tailors
You have the right idea for not using binding but you need to first stitch a stay stitch around the neckline so as not to stretch it. That blouse is very easy to stretch. Please know how to show what to properly do first and not mislead innocent sewers.
Yeahhh don’t try this with Lycra y’all 🤦🏼♀️ just ruined my dress
Yes, this technique is only for woven fabrics! Knit fabrics have their own sewing techniques :)
I think it depends on the type of fabric as well? Because I tried on poplin cotton and was having a hard time 😪 ⅔½²x
Thank you so much. So many people try to show this on a straight piece of fabric as an example, but it doesn't translate well to a curve. This is perfect! I was ready to give up. I appreciate you so much.
I'm so so glad this helped you! Thank you for watching :)
