O Canada was first written in French as an anthem for French Canadians and was first performed in the 1880s and was first sung in the late 1880s on Saint-Jean Baptiste Day. There is a plaque on the Plains of Abraham indicating as such.
Yeah I got a bit messed up with the French , after finishing vive la henri I forgot that Canadas royal anthem is bilingual, also my autocorrect accepts viva but doesn’t recognise vive.
The Maple Leaf song is a beautiful anthem. Canada made a huge mistake to change it to the current drab dirge, especially as it is sung by that screeching harridan in thr newer version.
Agree it is too "screechy". There is too much wobble vibrato baggage in the voice of the singer of the last version. The earlier female had a much cleaner voice without the baggage.

I noticed you put "viva la reine" and "viva le roi" the correct spelling is VIVE , "viva" is a spanish word,not a french one
