This is just one of the best gasifier projects ever. Your video and your work is just great. I love the design and the way you made it look almost like military hardware. Subbed and thanks again, keep them coming!:)
absolutely... I was so excited when I got it running for the first time. The bottom shavings weren't really sticky, but they were all very wet. I did clean some sticky stuff off the inlet pipe of the filter... I'm assuming that's what people are referring to as Wood Tar.
it's a detonation cord box. It's essentially a large ammo can. it's great because it has the rubber seal at the top, and four large closers around it to get the air-tight seal you need.
Cound one run the old sawdust (maby not the dirtiest) thru the gasifier? I was thinking if it would burn that old crap or would that just add the old tar into the new sawdust?
Hey Fred, I'm not sure exactly how long I was running it... there was several short warm-ups/cool-downs, plus a few longer runs including when i ran my generator under load for an hour. I would guess it was around 4+ hours, maybe more.
So we have a 35 gallon drum ( with internal parts ) an old expansion tank? But that box it has an ammo can feel but its not, what is it? Looks great. One question once you have enough charcoal couldnt you use that as your first layer in the filter box?
Hi JR , would using a water bubbler help in cleaning the gas and help to cool it ? How would someone build a bubbler ? Wouldn't a bubbler clean the gas as it goes through the water ? There might be a problem with back pressure, maybe ?
i was wondering, how hot does the cyclone filter get? i was thinking about building a gassifier and using the heat from the cyclone to heat my shed (with a copper coil and radiator etc)
Great video JR. How many hours did the gasifier run before you cleaned it out? Based on that have you come up with a schedule that you will use to clean it out in the future. Keep up the good work!
Hi jr. paul here, I built a gasifier like yours, And it works great, However I get a lot of tar with the same setup you have, Can you tell me how can I stop the tar build up at the output where it supplies gas to the generator and clogs up the valves ?. P.S I love your design.
Curious if you can use the wood shavings to burn for the gasification. Your setup is probably one of the nicest I've seen. Very very clean.

Any updates? Are you still using the gasifier?

The follow up !
perfect just the info I needed. thanks JR great job
Hi JR.
Can you show the inside of your burn chamber. I would to see more detail and get a better idea of the actual ignition.
How's the gasifier working for you now that you've had it a few years? Working on getting the pieces for my first build myself.

Having best filter results with using 4 deep glass wool insulation cut to fit filter box in our gasifier
Any Tar or corrosion on your genny? I'd be curious to its condition after 1000+ hours of runtime

May I ask, what do you do with the waste charcoal & sawdust thats collected the oil?
Maybe a tap on the filter bottom for long term use if tar builds up
would it be beneficial to add a smaller screen to stop the saw dust from falling thru. same for the fuel
You can get free saw dust at home depot. It's also generally pine. Just go to where they split wood and open up the vaccum drum
What is your run time with a full feed tube? Any significant difference with pellets or wood chips?
Do you run your old filter materials through the gasifier?
Try Using Coconut fiber as a filter media , get it at any upholstery store. Also on the internet. large surface area.
How many hours of runtime per filter change?
What is the filter box?
