  • Raking grass hay with a John Deere 496A side delivery rake behind a Farmall 460 and then baling with our new Hesston 5540 Rounder round baler behind the John Deere 4020! This baler has a lot of learning curve and we are still figuring it out, but its a blast to run!

Does/Did this baler have a monitor or electric control? I just picked one up with out a control, and I cant find info about whether they all had an electric control box or not

It had a control box with a simple switch to run the twin arms. There was supposed to be lights for bale shape and a buzzer for full chamber but none of that was working.

No, it is a soft core baler. It really worked pretty good for what we paid for it and it gets the hay from the field to the yard. The bales definitely look sadder than a hard core baler though. We upgraded to a John Deere 535 this fall.
