Essentially you’ve got it...however there is some nuance to it. There are ‘pickle’ specific cucumber (verses fresh eating cucumber) varieties that have been breed and selected for size, disease resistance, skin type and other desirable qualities.

What Cucumbers do you grow for pickling? I use Chicago pickling but if there is a better one out there I'll try it!
TH-cam Garden We don't grow pickles I filmed a neighbors field being harvested so I have no idea what kind they planted sorry.

Cucumbers, not pickles
I think you mean cucumber harvest. A pickle is a small cucumber preserved in vinegar, brine, or a similar solution.
