John it's time to buy a "homeowner" tool kit at Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Faily Dollar and use the tools to do a build video. Call it the "Dollar Build Challenge".
I love this idea. It’s actually very possible too. I’ve seen many tools in the dollar stores. I actually bought a cheap 3/8”ratchet and socket set from Family Dollar a few years ago to keep in my vehicle for emergencies. 12 bucks and it has helped me out many times.
Alumni of AW Beattie here. Been watching your videos for a minute. They literally built their curriculum for the shop students to build a fully livable home. HVAC also gets in on it. John wasn't my instructor but I saw him and his students quite a lot. It's also strange to see the stores you go to. They seem quite familiar. Fantastic donation and video. They'll beat those tools to heck and back.
I love the channel, all your channels actually but I’ve gained a new level of respect for you after this one. It takes a good dude to go out and spend money like that to help the youth. Awesome job guys
if you want good 'discount furniture' consider driving around the day before trash day to see if anyone put out anything they want to get rid of, sometimes you get stuff thats almost useable which means you can get alot of material out of it to make something usable.
Such an awesome thing you did there John! This is the best thing you've done so far! And to add those extras from the pallets was the ultimate topper. This country needs hard workers, trades people like engineers, carpenters, heavy equipment operators, and general laborers and you my friend are making that education way more possible. Seriously, I wish more content creators would do things like this wether it's music, art, automotive or trades. Thanks for being the difference!
Punchdown tool is for low voltage phone/ethernet wiring. You use it to punch down the twisted pairs inside ethernet/cat5/6 cables to a punchdown panel.
❤ love this one but if anyone out there is looking for on sale power tools Lowe's will always have better deals in store, home depot has great online deals but they like to pull items that haven't sold and sell them on pallets where as Lowe's primarily unload hand and power tools with clearance tags directly to the customer, the CEOs of each company have decided to handle their overstock and returns differently
Metabo HPT makes a worm drive circular saw, I bought one for my dad and he really enjoys it. The saw came with a cord adapter for the battery slot. So it can be 36v Battery Powered or Corded.
When they are coming out with a new version of something, you can get a great deal on the old version still in stock. I picked up a Kobalt leaf blower (with battery and charger) for seventy bucks at Lowe's a couple years ago, it was 50% off. The new version of the same blower now runs about $180.00. I wasn't even there for a leaf blower, but that such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Nothing wrong with it at all, still works fine.
Build them also a wooden /metal /plastic (oh that caramel colour is really nice) charging hub and store for the various batteries. This will add more value than you think.
I can't say enough what a brilliant thing you just did, so selfless of you. I'm sure those tools will be greatly appreciated and who knows you may getting some new subscribers coming your way. Once again, well done....
@@fnsmikeI will say the 10$ Amazon one I have is not as good as my dad's fluke that I used working for him. The cheap one mishits like 1/3 times. But it's not enough of an annoyance to justify an expensive one for the one project I used it on in my house.
The fact that you guys still have trade schools is friggin AMAZING!! They've basically all vanished from the UK sadly, as have all the trade classes in regular schools. I think you have to wait until you hit college and go to a trade-based college or ones that provide trade courses. Luckily my town's main college provides a nice variety like construction-specific courses, electrical, plumbing, as well as apprenticeships. It's just a shame you can't get an earlier start or get to try out various ones in school to find something that suits you, where you don't have to commit to multi-year expensive courses.
I worked at a pawn shop until recently and we had all sorts of power tools (Dewalt, Milwaukee, Ridgid, Snap-on etc) that were new in box for insane deals. Not sure if that's something every pawn shop does but it may be worth a look...
@@matty_isthemotto Possibly. Kobalt tools are not being discontinued. They are expanding their power tool line by adding more benchtop tools and more corded and cordless tools. They are pushing out kobalt hand tools but expanding power tools. Try em and you might be surprised by that blue boy price point beats Milwaukee and dewalt and from my experience kobalt 1/4 24v impact out performs Milwaukee 1/4 18v impact
Great respect for you & your team John. Well done and congratulations on your channel success so far. It's great to see that you're using this platform to promote a worthy cause.
Buffers get discounted this time of year because they are a summer time item for automotive people and they don't want to carry the stock over the winter
I snagged a Dewalt 20v XR 1/2" Hammer/Drive Drill, 7.25 Circ Saw and Osc Tool for $77 (tools only, no batteries, chargers or case) They were old displays from the power tool section.
I have an almost full set of Metabo HPT 18v tools and batteries (and a couple 36v tools and multivolt batteries) bought on clearance from the local Lowe's for 75% off each.
Dude what you do is sooo amazing. Really love the one stars and especially the discount videos..like bro I had no idea they even had that. To say my thanks I am Subscribing!! AWESOME DUDE...SAM I wish I had you lol not in a weird way...y'all are some great workers

I use the impact tool all the time. Its used to punch down Phone lines on 66 and 110 block. Also used to punch down data cabling in network termination points.
with the battery adapters just find the best cheap battery and then go crazy .. Ive been weeding out diffrent brands for years trying to stay in good tools that work with as many batteries as possible
Yes sir man got to hit the clearance rack every trip. Got a trunk full of tools for 50 percent off. Once went in for saw blades that were on sale as so walked out with a Bosh rotary hammer drill normally 300$ for 149$ so you never know drill’s and impact kits for 70$ normal 169$ Milwaukee and Makita can’t pass them up
Twenty years ago, I had the Lowe’s and Home Depot “hub” stores for the area within a mile of my house. Both of which were open 24/7. And, I was working as the site supervisor for a large home builder. I would hit them on Saturday mornings at around 0500. They put all of the clearance tools out Friday night, or Saturday morning, on the night shifts. So, I went in early and scored big constantly. I had a stock of tools, and accessories, which I would sell to the guys on the sites.
As someone who works for Lowe’s, you went bargain hunting at the perfect time. There was a big reset of cordless power tools which means tons of clearance items.
Yeah, the Home Depot stores here in California have multiple clearance sections, usually one for each major department. Sometimes you do see some Crazy discounts, but sometimes it'll say "clearance" but it's basically the same price so you really gotta pay attention. 😅👍
At Home Depot if the sticker has a "Was" price listed then it's clearance and discounted, if it's a yellow tag with no "Was" then the product is being discontinued from stores but hasn't been discounted yet. If the sticker says "New lower price" the product is staying around but did have a price reduction.
Every single time I go to Home Depot with my boss, I help load the cart and then when he’s in line for checkout I dash over to the clearance tools section and see if there’s any good deals. I’m a dewalt guy for my battery platform and I’ve been able to scoop up a 6.5 inch circ saw, hammer drill, stubby impact driver, orbital sander as well as a brad and finish nailer all for at least 40% off. I’ve had to purchase specific tools I was looking for on regular sales still when I needed them but it’s always worth looking at the clearance section first
North of Pittsburgh in Armstrong county. They have Lenape tech. and they also build a trailer. They also have a welding class, Auto mechanics, Body shop, Machine shop as well as others. It's up in ford city pa 16226. There is another one south of Pittsburgh in Washington county off the spears pa exit off I70 as well.
My favorite thing is when a beef product says it's grass fed to make the yuppies feel good about eating it. Every calf is grass fed until it ends up at the feed lot and they pump it full of corn to fatten it up. Now if it says grass finished then that is when it didn't go to the feed lot.

They aren't discontinuing the Skil 12v. They are updating the batteries and most of the tools came with the older model. That line is surprisingly solid, especially compact recip saw and oscillating tool.
Agreed. The one handed recip saw is awesome! Just as good as the M12 Fuel. The only difference between them is that the Skil has a soft start trigger feature where it starts off kinda slow when the trigger is pressed but then it picks up to full speed right after that. I guess it’s just a safety feature but it’s not a big deal. Skil has the same performance at half the price.
That punch down tool is a nice piece of kit! I used one for a wiring project here last year, and it worked awesome. It is used for punching down Cat# ethernet cable into punch down plates. The professional way to run ethernet in your wall.
Love your content, you guys are awesome 💯!! If you happen to have a thickness planer you want to get rid of I really need one. Like I'm desperately needing one, I have some walnut that my wife's grandfather fell and then he passed away so I got the wood and no way to mill it. I want to make something special with all of it but I need a thickness planer for it. Anyway, I can't wait to see the next video, stay safe 💯😁
I once got a $120 set of ratcheting wrenches for like $20 because they had a stack of them in the clearance section for $60 and i found two that werent missing pieces and sold one on ebay for $100. Now i check the clearance every time i go in.
Loved this idea for a video. Heading out to check the local back aisle. Cheers, Mark ETA: what a great idea for kids (trade school). They will come out of high school immediately ready to start their career and making some bank. Love that
😳🤨🤔 Interesting, I never knew about this discount section at HD or Lowes. I might have seen it out of the corner of my eye as I was walking past but didn't know they had anything good in there (power tools & such). I’m going to have to look through there next I’m at either store. Thanks, John. 👍👍
The stores are inconsistent depending on how bad their managers are. There are three Lowes near me, only one has a half way decent "back aisle" , and it's barely half way decent. None have lumber cull. The 4 Home Despots are better, but it's a wild guess at what will be in the discount aisle. 1 usually has good cull lumber, 2 medium, last one never has anything.
I got myself a recip, circular, impact driver, drill, and oscillating tool, charger, and two batteries for less than $150 because they were clearanced at Lowes.
I generally also find Home Depot has a lot of discounts you can only get online for power tools, especially combo kits. Got most of my power tools that way 40 to 50 percent off.
OH, YEAH... I do know about this section in my Lowe's, our clearance section is terrible. Rarely of any value. I miss Menard's. NOW THAT STORE had a heck of a clearance section. Menard's is the best of the big three. Sadly they like to stay up north and I now live in Mississippi.
@johnmalecki Donating those tools to a local trade school was absolutely awesome!! I was wondering what you were gonna also do with all those tools from the pallet videos. Man you are such an amazing human being, giving back to people who cant afford new tools truly shows how generous you are and i am so proud to be a #johnmalecki fan and supporter of one hell of a woodworker!! 👏Thank you @johnmalecki for being such a badass and just straight up awesome f**king dude!! 😀 I hope I can be half as good of a woodworker as you 🫵 someday! 😀❤️👍
I used to work at Home Depot, and one time, a guy was shitting his pants while walking down the back aisle. Ultimately, the back isle was covered in human shit and my poor manager had to clean it up.
The "Back Wall" where I come from we generally call the "Whoopsie" aisle. Or, it's what we call the discounted food section that's about to go off or a box that's got a tear in it that they can't normally sell so discount it. They're all over, although normally my local DIY shop doesn't have anywhere near as many discounted items as this or at such great discounts, so you're lucky to have even found them!
I heard that HALO theme @4:55 one more reason this crazy pack of guys is my favorite thing on the internet. And I just build guitars and learn more form them than you may think. Thanks for being so amazing and entertaining. You guys are the absolute best!
Best HomeDepot/Lowes deals ever were when they swapped clamp brands. HomeDepot went from Bessy to Jorgensen, and Lowes went from Jorgensen to Bessey, the same week both of them had clamps 60% off. I bought a shopping cart full of parallel jaw clamps from both of them.
How can you not visit the electrical clearance section? My first stop every time at HD. They put extension cords on clearance after Christmas and I chop those up to make replacement power cords and specialty extension cords with switches, etc. lots of great stuff on that shelf.

was looking for this reply. It was a Klien as well so that was a good price. Had mine for YEARS, but havent needed in a long time at this point

ETA: what a great idea for kids (trade school). They will come out of high school immediately ready to start their career and making some bank. Love that
The impact punch down tool is by Klein tools, it’s an electrician’s tool. It’s used to cut done the wire and then contain the wire into a jack.
21:12 what is panic button?
I’m assuming it locks down the building and/or alerts the police in the event of an active shooter.
Probably also puts the shop on alert if there’s a major accident with one of the students.
Probably if someone gets injured
The king👑 of youtube is back and made another good video
4:55 bit of an odd use of the Halo theme, but it's always nice to hear.
You are a very generous man. Keep it up!!
I generally also find Home Depot has a lot of discounts you can only get online for power tools, especially combo kits. Got most of my power tools that way 40 to 50 percent off.
I just watched Sam Greens video... how come he's not been hooked up with a pair of Shop Shades... I love mine!!!
As soon as I saw him eating a meat stick, I knew an ad was coming. I do respect the hustle
A+ on this Video Fellas and thank you for donating to a Local trade School we have to keep the trades Alive 😎👍
as some who did my time as a low voltage field technician. If it ain't Klein it ain't mine.
Awesome Haul💪🏻!! Keep doing these videos maybe do a harbor freight next time !!
Gotta love you and the team’s philanthropy. ❤
This is awesome! So happy to see the trade schools doing well!
Good work y'all, for the kids 🤘
The impact tool is for network RJ45 punch down or RJ11 punch down patch panels
I heard that HALO theme @4:55 one more reason this crazy pack of guys is my favorite thing on the internet. And I just build guitars and learn more form them than you may think. Thanks for being so amazing and entertaining. You guys are the absolute best!
It’s Aisle. Isle is referring to an island.
Believe it not Flex makes some of the Best powertools. At least the most powerful, they've been throughly tested.
This feels like more a commercial for Chomps as john continuously is eating them in the entire video 😂 love it.
