The Beetle Turbo is now the basic Beetle, so the sportier version of the Beetle Turbo is dubbed the Beetle R-Line. Brian Cooley drives it and checks the tech.
Another entertaining review...nice to see him test a car that most Americans can actually afford...he has not done alot of that over the last year or so (and I think I have seen every review he has done over that time frame). Other then he is funny, intelligent and clearly knows/loves cars - I think the best thing about Cooley is he will say something is terrible and then turn around and say something is wonderful about the same car. It's like he does not pre judge it and let that lessen his opinion about the whole car. That impresses me. I wish people treated people like that.
I own the 2013 Turbo Beetle I did some mods so I have 150 up. But got 276 Tq. with the mods It's scream off the line, did coil overs with sticky tires big improvement on turns, instead of buying those expensive lamps I put HID super night blue. instead of Fender I went with 1 single Kicker L7 8" sub with 1200 watts mono. because of shape of trunk the bass hit like a 2 12's other than all the other mods I did the car drives very fun and gets way better gas than what they say, I get 33 city and 41 freeway even after all my Velocity off the line.
I just drove a Beetle for a few days and Cooley is spot on with the performance. The power is great but when you try to push it, it goes all over the place with its stock suspension. It's got a ton of potential for modding though. I wouldn't mind driving around in this after replacing a few components.
I think the comments on here about it looking like it has been designed by posche is a bit weird afterall they designed the original too though maybe most people don't realise that.
I have a 2012 2.0tsi e888 Gen 1 ( wish I had the rline with the Gen 3 mqb 2.0tsi) with a cts ko4 turbo, fbo, untronic ots stage 2+ and tcu tune.. 300whp ( conservative tune, 20 lbs of boost) Puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel
AE86 of Mt. Akina or they could just throw the engine in the back. it would also create a lot more storage space in the front of the car. which would be nice, because the beetle was designed to have the consumer in mind.
I like the look of vws but I read about how unreliable they are..of course that might be very few..but I suppose reliability issues plague all manufactures
29K for a damn beetle that has a screen the size of a flip phone? If they were going to reach like that they should've gave it at least the Jetta interior since it's pretty much supposed to be the Jetta coupe,,.. they really phoned it in on this one
I'll probably give up driving if car companies stop making Manual Trans. At least we still have MINI. Also, Its a Beetle. Who needs a rear camera in a Beetle?
The car is cute, if that's what you are going for. I wouldn't drive it. The way Cooley priced it, you can get a GTI SE (MSRP on DSG: $30,185) with a few more bells and whistles, like back up cam, larger, better head unit, more power and speed.
A beetle that isn’t rwd and rear engined is just a bad nolstalgia play. I’d be just as well off buying just about any front drive econocar with a high performance trim. I have so many other options, from the BMW mini cooper to the ford focus st.
seriously? oil temp, boost gauge, and lap timer on this kind of car? that's like a person with muscular dystrophy wearing a lifting belt and powdering his hands, telling everyone he likes to do deadlifts.
Tony nimmons Yeap its like that . . . thats why I like it when I rape some gti's for fun with my old one. . . the spin sound of a big Garret turbo and the blow of HKS bov is amazing . . . you should see their faces when we stop at the next traffic light . . . "is that really a beetle passing my car ?" xaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxa . . . Last weeks victim was a Golf 7R . . . 300hp . . . so what . . . I'm waiting for R400 to play with. . .
this style of video is 2010 travel channel nostalgia
This car look like the result of Porsche and the old Beetle have one night stand.
Porsche designed the original beetle, so it's really a true return to form.

Cooley for president!!
for real though
Beetle never dies .
Great review as always
OMG THE INTRO SONG IS SO CUTE

I just bought a 2014 VW Beetle 1.8 and I love it.
hey! Do you still have yours and hows it doing? I am thinking about getting the same year with the 1.8.
@@fruitdon4000 Going well I love the car.
@@fruitdon4000 I love the car and I hope you do too.
You can always count on Cooley to make a good video.
My dream car
wow did Cooley just take a shot at the iphone screen size?
cool car
Thanks
Only watched this because of Cooley.
Same here.
I love the kazoo music
I have a GTI currently but I would drive this car. I like the way it looks now, doesn't look like a chick car anymore.
Brian Cooley 👌
Call me crazy, but I see a little Porsche in ext. design..........
Beetle 911 lol
Jeremy clarkson Calls 911's the Beetle lol
Hello Crazy, I'm Daniel
VW owns Porsche, so thats legit lol
SeimSeim LP Good job stating the obvious, who could have made such a groundbreaking conclusion without you.
Can you do a review on 2015 ford mustang
すごくカッコいい車ですね☺️
Does anyone know if the Beetle TDI has the limited slip differential?
😍beetle
Where's Antuane? We need more of him
How much is the car's ground clearance?
Bumblebee's alt mode NEEDS to be this...
the led running lights look like eyelashes lol
i want that car
I want VW to make a rear engined beetle. They should have never changed it to a FF layout.
It's certainly a beefier version of the Beetle in looks and performance.
They should move the engine to the back.
Yup
"Balls around an arch."
Cnet should have 2 chanells one for tech one for cars
They should go back to rr layout
I would buy one for that very reason.
ali zinati me too
Wouldn't even be that hard. They could just shrink the Porsche 911 chassis.
AE86 of Mt. Akina or they could just throw the engine in the back. it would also create a lot more storage space in the front of the car. which would be nice, because the beetle was designed to have the consumer in mind.
What car does Cooley Drive?
a car with 4 wheels
Przt Dre I'll laugh if he drives a 6X6 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon
Ford crown Victoria
911 is more Beetle than this. I didn't even know they moved the engine to the front, when did that happen?
It happened when the New Beetle was launched.
"I told you this show wasn't for kids"
Engine talk @ 3:29
I liked the old 'New Beetle' style better!
What city does that take place in?
San Francisco!
thanks man, I thought it was Chicago
thanks man, I thought it was Chicago
roninglx No problem
the only way i'd ever drive this is with the 6MT
+kevin Rotge Absolutely true
Porche?
Cmon man can't skip the fresh wheels and the bi-xenons those are a couple of the only redeeming qualities
I like the look of vws but I read about how unreliable they are..of course that might be very few..but I suppose reliability issues plague all manufactures
I have never seen a man straight or gay drive this car.
me and you both
+kevin Rotge You must be trans...
***** Calm down. It was a joke...
The old beetle is much better imo. Aircooled ftw
But the majority of Smart Car drivers are men....explain that one....

Hi
Are uglies included at no extra costs like the Porsche ?
Great car. I wish it had for the money a leather interior. Power seats maybe. Locking front diff and a momo steering wheel. Just sayin'. 👍

It's not zee-non it is zen-un, your pronounciation of Xenon is wrong.
They could improve.
You can put this backup camera on a Beetle:

Looks like a Porsche

What does a iPhone have to do with the screen size? #slapyourself
no u

that's like a person with muscular dystrophy wearing a lifting belt and powdering his hands, telling everyone he likes to do deadlifts.
It's a gimmick, but it gets people's attention.
good car!
The first "new beetle" had the best look, that's just my humbe opinion.
Looks cute, but when ever a man drives one, people think your gay or your driving your girlfriends car.
Haha you took the words right out of my mouth! Something about a man driving this just doesn't seem right...
You got it!!!
The new Beetle is pretty manly, but it is aimed more for women to be honest!

Yeah, VW has a solution to these Beetle problems. It's called a GTI. This car is a waste.
But crazy cat ladies don't like GTI.
Golfs always seem to be driven by acne-ridden 17 year olds. Anybody can drive a beetle.
$30000, volks wagen my ass.
The suspension probably sucks because they figured the teenage girls or middle aged women driving these wouldn't notice.
Junk
