Thank you for this!
Its nice to see during your comp match, you finally unlocked all of your subclasses. 😂
These type of videos are so much more helpful than just saying this gun is meta and will make you win in comp/ trials. Reminds me more of the type of videos I love watching about Halo.
Downloading this & saving it for later. Your videos have helped me win so many more matches. Fight IQ through the stratosphere. Truly appreciate these kind of videos
I wake up, smoke, boot up d2 and open yt and I'm greeted by an hour long gift! All hail the great Cam
that one unemployed friend 😂
Jealous
@@Lucas91467😂😂😂
@@Lucas91467just because you can’t smoke and be productive doesn’t mean other can’t I got a job just fine :)
smoking is ghey
I'm so glad for creators like cam, I've been on a journey slowly ascending the skill ladder the past few years and seeing cams second-to-second decision making has helped me immensely - now i've been Flawless a few times, dropped a couple we-rans and I can play with my higher skill friends without ruining their games - one day I'll pay you back, mr Cakes.
Thanks a lot Cammy! you’re literally the only YT who breaks this all down to a T and I’ve learned a lot from your improvement videos. So many times I ask others for tips or how to get better just get to get told to “play the game”. I feel like I have decent aim and I am a slightly above average player but it’s this type of understanding in higher skilled lobbies that I seriously lack and struggle to implement. Much love & thank you!!!
I love love map breakdowns. Coolguy used to do them.
More map breakdowns please
The comment about "devices" is very true and frustrating. There's a lot more cheaters in PC obviously, but consoles are plagued by device users which ruins the fun in a competitive mode. With the changes to the comp playlist and that new ascendant 0 emblem, there will be more cheaters and I believe a lot more "recovery services". I think Bungie needs to do more because what they've done so far is not enough and pushes players away.
I'm just going to tell you 90% of those times you think its a cheater its either a good controller player with high sense or an above average player getting extremely lucky or in other words having a good game
@ and I’m just going to tell you that XIM/Chronus use is wayyyy higher than you think in high skill console lobbies
@fort809 Let's say that they are which I don't think is the case in destiny it would honestly not make them much better. Unless they can't play controller at all
@@CarriesOnTop No, a high-skill kbm player playing with console-level aim assist is definitely going to be better. Aiming aside, the level of movement possible on kbm is just more that controller can ever be. Shooting a 140 RPM HC shot, then rapidly turning and sliding and turning back in between the firing delay to keep 100% of possible fire rate isn't happening on a controller. Hell, most people doing it on kbm probably use macros in some way to help consistency. And the extra aim assist from being on "controller" definitely doesn't hurt them either. Using a XIM is 100% a massive advantage, and the fact these cheaters still lose games is beyond hilarious.
@@Valorant_Simplifiedbro what😂😂😂assuming you play this game as much as the rest of us, youv had to of seen a few world record raids/dungeons. PPENTY of those players are console and if not controller players😂. Let me guess you just cant skate so you feel as if everyones cheating.
Thanks for the breakdowns and tips, especially the part on flanking on Rusted Lands it's given me more to think about.
At the 41 minute mark you mentioned the idea of recognising when to let yourself respawn fast or extending your life, I'd love to see you break that down in more detail with examples at some point, that's not something I'd ever considered.
It's part of spawn manipulation. I think Cammy has at least 2 videos where he talks about spawn manipulation. He has a rumble video about it. There's another TH-camr, I forgot who, but they have a video about spawn manipulation in D2 scrims. I think it's illPhysics.
Ah yes, the perfect video to fold my dishes and mow my laundry to
I loved the checkmate ammo system. Earning your special just made the game less campy and felt like people actually moved around
Most responses i heard prefer checkmate too, idek why bungie didn’t go ahead with it.
yeah its good but sadly if you get bad teammates theyre just gonna get farmed for ammo, and gl if you ever try to close the distance w just 1 shot on your shotgun when the enemy has 3 or 4
@@calmthestorm2400 In some recent TWABs/blog posts they said that there were technical reasons they moved to the current system (lag spikes + bugs caused by ammo meter). They are working to bring it back to the game but it's taking a long time due to game-wide redesigns to how ammo works.
That was the best system
@@macman850 exactly. It was peak PvP for me. Why did they revert from that?
Love ur rants on power ammo control feel like you were saying my thoughts out loud
holy preach, that first 2 minutes is such a truth bomb. Love your content as always CammyGoats
It’s wild to me there is still no “device” report in game.
It’s been a known problem for ages and even if no direct action that proves what they’re doing…. There can at least be a compiled list of likely suspects and force them to simply play each other.
Thanks for keeping crucible fun Cammy. I've played more this season than any other combined since I started playing and your videos are a big motivator.
I main controller Titan on PC and have been really struggling to find my main loadout this season, until a few days ago. I decided to pick my Warden's Law Adept back up and start playing with it since the flinch changes and the results have been night and day. The roll is Small Bore, Steady Rounds, Moving Target, Zen Moment with a Stability Masterwork. Honestly love the gun for dueling and find that a lot of players don't know how to handle it. Anyway, love the content and thanks for being a positive influence on the PvP community!
I wont lie, i feel like comp is going to be more of a one off experience to climb to the top and then to go off into trials.. at least thats how i see it with the following changes. Also idk I feel like the 10000-15000 is lowkey going to push cheaters and anomaly players to vs each other.
love ur longform videos, always glad to hear how you break stuff down
great video cam, we are lucky to have you 😙
7:48 This is what makes grenade launchers good, if you can learn how to bounce them, as well as Athrys's Embrace, Shield throw, or any grenade that can bounce. Get enemy weak and when they inevitably retreat have your escape-killer ready.
i play on Oceania servers and have had to come to terms with the fact i will might never reach ascendant. matchmaking time for me means 2-3 error codes before i find a match du to extremely low player population. i just wish bungie would add something worth pursuing in the comp playlist if anything just to make it playable by increasing player pop (no, weapon focusing doesn't count, you don't even need to play comp for them outside of placement matches.)
I mean playing comp is the only way to get the Deadloc shotgun. Which is the best kinetic slot shotgun in the game by far
33:19 this bit about creating a “perpetual threat” is how you force the enemy to react the way you want them to. This carries over into a lot of other PvP games, I have the same mindset playing Overwatch
The waves of special ammo you mentioned sounds like a really fun idea. If it worked more like when "the hunt" is on in iron banner, and for a period of *time* you play extra on-edge, and not like heavy ammo where the match is poisoned with an op resource which could last awhile (and as a casual you lowkey give-up if you know theres rockets behind the corner), then I think it would make the average match more fun.
Cant wait to play next episode *cough, cough* season
Dishes gang indeed, you saved the best for last with that godtier, invis hunter gameplay. Headed back to trials noob vid for a rewatch to finish these dishes off.
I needed this vid. I hate comp, but I’m going to go through it for that stasis battler.
44:30 we love terror
On top of suppressor nades, I tend to gravitate towards having a super-stopping options on all my builds. Vorpal weapon, alt fire/magic bullet, snipe, maybe freeze/suspend etc. I’m in the camp that supers are a win button if done correctly that need a constant counter rather than the; hide and seek shotty - hopefully allies will team-fire, game we play.
I’ve recently discovered how fun icefall mantle is in pvp, use it on behemoth with glacioclasm and tectonic harvest, revision zero and a fusion (techeun with backup plan for now), and it’s surprisingly effective. Rime is mandatory ofc
Its been getting harder season on season, ive reached ascendant 3 times in solo q, missed out last season - failed 3 promo series, and only got adept this season last night. Hopefully the changes bring it some love, great vid dude
Wonderful guide. Thank you so much, truly. Great job
Loved this, thanks a ton. Haven't really touched comp until now but the new BxR is too cool to pass up.
How to win in comp: Step 1, get lucky enough not to match cheaters/ximmers.
I saw "doing the dishes gang" while scrolling and feel like I've been summoned
This what I needed I’m gonna take notes(literally)
As always, thank you for sharing amazing content Cammy.
It's actually crazy how essentially getting the emblem is up to the reality that you have to Carry. I've had too many games where I'm having to play outta my mind lol
By far the best thought process an insightful knowledge! But as a solo player, I wish more people would use the mic more, as I'm always enabled, and it's like I'm the only one ever. Plus, at higher tiers, it's harder to have fun things instead of whether it is optimal!
YOULLLSLEARNSOON D2 DKIDS AND BABY ADULTS AND OBVIOUS HARDCORE SHOULD BE KNOWAITALL PVE PLAYERS CREATE TOXIX PLAYERS OUT OF INNOCENT PEOPEL ABASED ON CALSS POWERLEVEL LOAD ETC T
LITERALLY RACISIM SIS IS STILLT HE CORE OF SO MUCH SHIT U DONT EVEN KNO HWO MUCH TEHRE IS IS THIS SGAME
For the weapon swapping issue I just swap to whatever works based off of inspecting when im flying into the match. I only used to do it when I was really trying to win but the last 2 episodes of pulse rifles just made me fully commit to it.
Only in comp and trials though doing it in quickplay would just waste your time
I got the Glorious title solo, so now I'm trying for gilding, but man, trying to get out of plat solo is rough. Excited to learn something for next seas-- episode!
Wow. This echoes so true. I was a pvp main but stopped playing destiny in July. Thought I'd watch this video just to see what's to going on now. Just finished the rant section and everything you said is exactly why I left the game.
I've just started the Comp entry untested 7 games, no real outlier protection with a few games heavily weighted in the many 1000s amongst the 3 opposition against my team having a single low 1000 player. When balanced the game is much better, no steam rollers... never played trials but will have a go next season
Just started using the void build, and I am doing much better than on dawnblade! W cammy
The main problem with competitive playlist in Destiny 2 is the game itself Destiny 2. That, and human factor.
The latter is simple, competitive players mostly enjoy dunking on lower skill more than they enjoy sweating against similar skill, that's why they will keep queueing control, regardless of what changes to comp playlist are made.
Regarding the former, big population smoothes out many sharp corners.
A change to a game mode won't make-or-break it, a bad change won't dissolve a particular game mode's population instantly, you'll still find matches in reasonable time and won't have wild average skill swings. And people will keep playing the mode because they won't have this feeling of uncertainty that stops you from committing to getting good in a game mode long-time. And the devs will have enough time to get proper feedback and make positive changes. And even if those changes will miss the mark a little, it still isn't a big deal because of player rotation, the loop goes on.
D2 doesn't have that, the game never banked all its money on pvp, and the pvp population was never huge. The game may have been in popularity charts at some points, but primarily because of pve and new content. And when the game as a whole struggles, the pvp population decreases even more. And when the pvp changes turn out bad, the population sinks even lower on top of that. All that creates the feeling of uncertainty. Why commit to getting good in this game, what feedback do you get? D2 doesn't have e-sports scene where you can flex your skill, D2 isn't on people's minds. Like if you say "Im global elite in CS2" in a random convo people will be like woah cool, because everybody knows CS2 or CoD or Battlefield. If you say "Im ascendant in D2" nobody gives a damn. And if you wanna get good just for the process itself, long queue times, "floaty" balancing and ever changing rules don't add to that. Who wants to get better in D2 just for the sake of it if you don't know if the game will be even alive in a month.
Amen, no disrespect to Cammy for still giving some info but let's not bs each other here, Destiny 2 is still an old game on archaic p2p structure and the game never had the continuous upkeep to be taken more serious and meet up with the constant shifts of stuff in PVP; e.g. tons of the maps were created when our characters were a lot slower, less people in match and with less options for gear. Or incentives, can't even get PVE cosmetic aspirational awards, PVP is chopped liver.
Hard to swallow pills but it quite literally is what it is, few sane people in 2025 on the fence who enjoy PVP experiences in games are going to fire up Destiny and be wow'd by anything. P2P sticks out like a sore thumb if you're used to anything else and there's far too many factors that just can make things feel unearned and cheap.
Great video! I would like you to give your opinion in a video on what you'd like to see changed for each class? For example, aspects/fragment reworks, buffs/nerfs, etc
Easy solution to swapping; You can only go to your inventory to swap loadout for 10s after spawning/respawning
Yo I rlly appreciate this vid, the shoutout to the pie
Any semblance of enthusiasm I hold for Competitive withers away as soon as I encounter Ximmers or cheaters, which it feels like every 3-4 matches.
As long as it is prevalent, it will be difficult for me to queue that playlist on a regular basis.
I'm in OCE region and they are everywhere.
I agree about the DIM problem. I just fear whatever the result inc fix will kill me. I use mainly final warning and the engima. Some maps though don’t allow double close range and I have to swap my glaive for a scout (with genesis). I want to be able to do that still but I also understand the predicament. Because as an off meta player I am NOT the norm. Most players do not use swapping like I do. Bungie can’t balance around me, but I understand that and I’m ultimately ok with whatever they try to fix it with.
30:33 symmetry is another great weapon for this playstyle too.
i think the best fix to the melee net code is to just nerf melee dmg and lunge range, make it so that if your first melee always does less dmg and if u follow up with another then it does the same dmg as now, this will kill double melee as but melee will still be viable as clean up tools, powered melees will be fine i think after the ability cooldowns being nerfed
The way I like to win more is by using the healing auto, you can't lose if the guy that keeps running in for a 1v3 doesn't die :D
5:50 what if every time someone swapped to a different weapon it was announced on the side of the screen like how you can see what heavy weapon someone just got ammo for?
That would be smart
As a solo on ps5 I CANNOT wait for the protections from larger fireteams in acts 2. That new darkest night emblem makes me wanna try so much harder in comp but Ive only gone accendant in season of the wish and actually got to 10k and stayed in accendant 1 for most of the rest of the season. Ever since ep echos aka prismatic Ive been adept 3 LOCKED and have even relagated a few times back to plat to then bassially go right back and be stuck again. Over and over and over for 2 whole episodes. U forgot to mention tilt management is probly lowkey THE most important thing to keep calm in comp. I get destroyed by my own tilt in comp that it makes me int and I loose more. So tough somtimes man, so tough. 😂😢
Much appreciated!
I'd personally really enjoy more pseudo primary ammo specials like a primary slug shotgun that would take 2 head to kill.
Needed this shit this morning thank you Mr Cakes
“Well how do I counter pulse rifle?” Should’ve thought about that before you queued with an smg
HOUR LONG CAMMY YAP SESH, GOD IS REAL
I like these types of videos but my issue for myself is that I have short-term memory loss. I can only remember something that dramatically happened in the past. Some of your older videos I do remember and I like to corporate those in my play session, other than that I would have to watch this multiple times to get a memory of something that drastically happened or remembering certain words you say!
Then watch it daily if you want to commit it to memory. Honestly, just being here and watching the video means you care enough to improve. Most criticisms are the same anyway, so if you watch multiple pvp critiques you'll get a pretty well rounded picture of issues and things you can do to win more.
They can add another primary slot so we can always have clise and long range primary and the 1 special.
I think if you go arc titan Cammy. You special low recovery. High stats Resil. Grenade. Put on alpha and arc Grenades trow them when ready to peak shoot. So it makes the opponent choose. I used them as a teamate
I do generally enjoy 3s more and actually find 6s sweatier sometimes? Thanks for the video. I am decidedly mid as hell in comp barely can crack Adept most seasons. I need to take some of your lessons to heart.
Hey Cammy, you didn't discuss it and I'd like to know how you feel about the rewards from comp. How could they make people want to play comp (outside of the fun, I-want-to-get-better factor that the average player won't relate to)? Purely cosmetics? Weapons? High end PvE or PvP weapons in that case? Would love to hear your thoughts
I have been struggling to get back into adept this season. I was there for a bit after gilding the seal and was attempting for the emblem, but it’s been pretty harsh living in Platinum hell
2:55, I'm guilty of this, but I only switch auto rifle RPMs; for an example I usually use a 600 RPM, but if I'm getting out RPM'd per se, I'll switch to a rapid fire.
Dishwashing crew checking in 🫡
This hour will determine my return.
If GM’s can have locked loadouts, so can comp.
Can bungie stop unlocking my subclasses too, I saw it on your video as well @1:13 Its annoying and it happens right in the middle of any activity.
I miss double primary. I still use it unless I'm sniping.
6:00 if loadout is hard locked, then there would definitely need to be a round based system that allows you to swap weapons between rounds. Destiny has kinda become a card game, where some decks just completely clear other decks, and it doesn't matter how you pilot that deck. Locked loadouts also kill experimentation. Sometimes I want to test a weapon in a match where I know my opponents will be tough. I guess it's my fault for testing stuff in comp though. Also not going to pretend I don't keep a Vorpal Weapon Rose and Compass Rose in my loadout specifically to swap to when supers start coming out. I also keep Khvostov to shoot orbs. And Hawkmoon to win stalemates, so I'm part of the problem.😅
Ironically it was Cammy ages back who suggested the deceptive "trap card" of loading into Trials matches with a weird loadout for head games, get rounds with it, swap off and then run something totally different to keep people guessing.
So, the message I'm getting is that you should try to play only mildly aggressive. Too aggro, and you push into the whole enemy team alone. Not enough aggro, and you get caged up until the spawns flip
The rent section is essentially why I stopped taking PvP seriously and didn’t even bother attempting competitive game mode
So I did watch the whole thing, and watching your Hunter match at the end legitimately made me feel like I was in a match where I knew I had a good build and it still didn't *feel* like it was working because my opponents are genuinely smart to read for/sus out invis plays, or just random plays like your genuinely opportune super pop gets shut down because "reasons."
I don't know if you felt that way during that match (you still won after all), but what would you suggest for where a player is having that kind of match, but without DIMventoring?
yO DUDE DITS NOT ABOUT BUIDLS DUDE FUCK JSUT SEROSLY PRACTICE THEY TOLD ME TO GETT BETTER TOO ITS FUCKIN TRU OM SHIT WHY
When will psn, bungie, lawmakers get rid of the damned cheaters?
D2 pvp has the best feel and gameplay. But Cheaters on consoles are running naked.
On the PK Titan note. I know bows aren't meta, but when I used to play PK titan I would use a bow + smg (not tarrabah). Is that still viable? or would it be better for a scout or pulse IF I wanted to have that close and mid/long range coverage? I haven't played PK in awhile, but wanted ask regardless.
Hopefully my ass can get out of gold 3 with this tips,
Thanks!💀👍
I'm surprised you didn't mention autoplay abilities and mechanics. Even if they aren't always hard meta, it really bothers me how common it is for Bungie to add things like Helion, Threaded Specter, Bastion, Echo of Vigilance and Child of the Old Gods. They literally augment everything you do without any input from you. You play normally, don't think about anything related to timing, positioning or anyting at all and they just work. It used to be that very few abilities were passive increments (maybe Quickdraw from Bladedancer, and that's it?), and most of them you had to actually manage your cooldown and the state of the fight to be sucessful with. Sure, there are always things that require too little effort for too much power (D1 stickies, Prismatic Diamond Lance) or get very abusive when people really learn it (pre-nerf Shoulder Charge, maybe double-dodge from D1), but at least you had to think about what you were doing while you played.
I really wish some of these abilities plain didn't work in PvP.
My number one loadout these days is double primary. Pulse rifle plus last word is great combo. I'm a very average player though so not sure how it would fare in high skill lobby
One thing you didnt cover that i think is a HUGE issue currently is people leaving comp games about 1/3 of the way through the game the moment you fall behind by 1 point (and consequently you lose rank even though it was 2v3 cuz they waited too long before leaving). Ive had insane comebacks happen, so i always try my hardest through the whole match, but when its 2v3 it makes those comebacks nearly impossible.
iT'S NOT BECAUSE WE FALL BHEIND IN POINT ITS BECAUS EW NOTICE YOUR GMEPLAY ANDITS NOT WORTH IT TO US BECAUSE WE AWANT TO PLAY NATURALLY INSTEWD OF HOLDING BACK
I think as long as Zim is aloud, nothing in this game is competitive..
Thanks Dr.Lupo
Thanks!

Why when I have never been anywhere near Ascendant do I face Ascendant rank players? I don't care how long the queue is, I should NEVER fight someone at that rank when I just started playing. There is skill based matchmaking. Why? It should be 0% skill based matchmaking. If that's the case then whats the point in the rank? It is harder for me to rank up than other people simply because I had some good games whenever I started playing. It even says on the card when u go to select comp "ranked based matchmaking" which is a bold-faced lie. When I faced Ascendant players when I was less than 2000 points it killed the mode for me.
Also thank you for mentioning the worst part of PvP Cammy. The melee system is god awful and should be absolutely reworked. 2 melee is 100% not the answer and the lunge needs a rework. Melee should be used to finish a gunfight where they didn't quite die. That's it. That means it should do less than 80 damage. If you did a gunfight and didn't get them below 80 then I'm calling skill issue. Also I have died multiple times trying to melee someone and the lunge actually MISSES which means I HAD NO POWER over whether that melee hit. The game just misses because lunge takes all control.
Amazing input thank you!
Any tips on playing against Cronus/Xims players or super laggy players.
I feel like 2 in 3 games I always deal with either someone lagging bad or using Cronus/Xims players. Its very frustrating, makes it really hard to learn and get better, and makes me want to quit
If someone is lagging just don't engage them at all. Kill their teammates instead if you can keep running from the lagger. Also if you have to engage them, don't trust melee duels or any other sort of jousting playstyle (shotgun, snipe), they'll either win everytime or trade at the least. Luckily I've only had a few laggy matches when it's like 3 or 4am. Also try playing when the player population is higher so you don't match people with bad peer to peer connection.
@ thank you 🙏 I’ll try that
I’m always wondering what requirements do I have to meet to lunge like that cause wtf I have T. rex arms!😂 10:51
Snipers do NOT need a nerf😭💀🙏. I’ll honestly never see this as a competitively viable game until flinch gets completely removed from primary weapons. Primary weapons should not flinch other primaries. Special weapons should flinch primaries so that certain weapons aren’t completely unbeatable in their intended range. (For example a shotgun flinching an smg)
just got ascendant yesterday pretty easily… But I know so many people who are hard stuck in Plat/Adept
There has to be an inside dev selling something if these cheaters keep popping up.
Man i just wish there were no droids on my team like literal npc's or worse than
Locked loadouts in comp perhaps? Would solve weapon swapping issues & effect loadout investment - do you go double primary with a balance of ranges or fully into a more specialised loadout with more clear pros/cons 🤔💭
If going double primary adjust to map like cammy said. Yet still need close range option.
So middle range with close range for double primary on most map’s.
Long range and close range on longest range maps. For double primary don’t just use two middle and long range weapons.
I feel like locked loadouts only work in 3’s, like 3 stack v 3 stack comp mode.
Make special weapons use primary ammo and nothing one-shots. Game balanced.
Have you considered running a Crucible focused Patreon?
mongoose is my comp experience on south america...
Good stuff🤙
Sometimes it's also players egos in comp they literally crashout or send hate the usual toxic mssgs, instead sending what I could improve on. There's also times they would get mad enough that they'll sabotage the game making you lose. I'm not sure if it's the player population but there's more players like tht instead of the chill ones
You didn’t talk about playing the other objective game modes? You only went over the slayer “clash” mode.
Unless you playing constant cheaters in comp, no point in trying to improve in this game anymore. Dead, unfair team balancing, long queue time, and the unbearable awful competitive atmosphere.
