After the Japanese 101 stream, I expected SameTori to have the diligent student-motherly teacher dynamic again. Now we got the rebellious daughter-strict parent dynamic with some hilariously dumb moments from both. collab
The first stream was like an kindergarten and caretaker class. Very sweet. This one is like a fourth grader and teacher. Student is just smart enough to know how to be a wise ass without knowing how to do it without getting into trouble.

This was so fun, Gura and Kiara together make for an incredibly entertaining time. I feel like not much was learned, but at the very least Gura left the stream knowing a fair amount of German swear words. This should be good enough.
I really can't wait for the next sametori collab! I guess the next lesson would be English then? But who will teach who in that case?

I actually came here to learn German in a serious manner only to leave with some dead brain cells and my lungs hurting from laughing too much.

When Gura started singing "Moskau" at 1:18:25, I got a weird sense of Déjà-vu and had to do a double-take to check if I had heard her correctly, as the melody sounded extremely familiar to me - specifically the exact same as a song called "Volga" from a famous Finnish singer named Frederik. As it turns out, the Finnish "Volga" is a translation of the original German song (which I didn't know), and that some of Frederik's other famous songs, namely "Tsingis Khan" (Dschinghis Khan) and "Sheikki Ali Hassan" (Hadschi Halef Omar) are also translations of the originals - something which the original composer of the German versions endorsed, and actually praised Frederik's version of "Dschinghis Khan" as better than the German version.
I expected to learn something new as a result of this stream, but the history of some of the catchiest songs I know was not exactly what I had in mind.
I’m always amazed she never messes up by actually saying Austrian.

to be fair Nice to meet you is actually really hard sentence grammatically, with the to + verb in german where you throw the verb to the end of the sentence, and then have to put the "zu" in middle of the verb since kennen lernen is those kind of word.
That phrase is very rare in German anyway, because we don't often use a lot of the fluff and small talk that English does.

It comes from the 3 digit course naming system for American universities, like around 1929 IIRC in the University of Buffalo being first, I think. 101 is the introductory course designation with number 1 being for freshmen, 2 for sophomores, 3 being juniors, and 4 being seniors. So, yes I guess 202 and so on would be aptly used, but gotta admit though. 101 has a nice ring, eh? lol

Grammar point: to flaunt is to show (something) off, to make an obvious display of it. When you act as though a law or rule doesn't apply to you, you flout it. Lots of people seem to get that wrong these days.

the shocking realization that, even as we all thought kiara was a chicken, she has been a chocobo all along~!?
Its march 2021 and i knew nothing about hololive... i knew what vtubing was but always rejected it and didnt bother to watch them.
Then one day i saw clip of goob and calliope morison with wholesome reactions to superchats.
A few days later this vod was suggested to me and as german speaker i thought "ohh one of them speaks german? Lets see what she is gonna teach to that kusogaki".
And this is how a birb and a shork pulled me into the hololive rabbithole

The moment at about 35:13 with Gura failing to understand basic math is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life. Kiara's reaction was completely justified and I love it.
This stream was so great I was laughing so much and everytime Kiara got nervous when gura cursed in german was great.

Though in Gura's defense, as a native English speaker, the way Kiara said "to" sounded very specifically like "two". I heard it the same way, and though I recognized her intent, I was actually thinking the same thing. "Oh, do you not have 3 and 4, then? :P". Hearing Gura say what I was thinking doubled up on the hilarity of what was already an extremely funny moment, and Kiara completely losing her sheisse over it kept me laughing the whole way through.
I can watch this stream over and over. It's such a classic EN moment. Love you both, thank you for being yourselves for us.

IMHO learning the ABC song (in whatever language) should be THE first step in learning that language.

For whom it may interest:
"Wie geht es dir?" can also be written "Wie geht's dir?", that explains the pronounciation, it's the same logik as in english "What is up?" => "What's up?"
And in the sentence "Lass unz zu ... gehen.", the "zu" technically never changes, that's also a lingual shortcut.
Examples:
-"Lass unz zu [dem Aquarium] gehen." => "Lass und zum Aquarium gehen."
-"Lass unz zu [der Schule] gehen." => "Lass und zur Schule gehen."
-"Lass unz zu [Kiara] gehen."=> "Lass und zu Kiara gehen."
"zu dem" => "zum"; "zu der" => "zur"
was rly fun stream, would really love to see ya try this with some of the other jp girls, and show em some deutsch - im pretty sure alot of them would have much easier time in trying some deutsch then doing english~~

Gonna have to disagree there. English spelling may be the world's bane, but for Japanese, the German pronunciation seems particularly foreign. Romance languages are quite J-style. English is in the middle.
