I had cataract surgery when I was 3 months old. Then developed glaucoma. I had this implant surgery in 2008 when I was 28 as an emergency surgery. Pressure was building up badly. It saved my eyes. Haven't needed another implant surgery.

discovered i had advanced Glaucoma probably 10 years ago , been on eye drops ,laser surgery, cataract , implant surgery {stent zen } it lowered my eye pressure from 21 to about 6 {too low//my vision was good in rt eye , now it's not as good & sometimes have dbl vision .. plus a droopy eye lid . now i'm back at the VA {lost CEI } approval .. eye pressure Left eyes been 21 -31 & dr wants to do the eye tube shunt surgery jan 15. i can see really well {lens implants] in that eye & am concerned my visions going be worse like what happened in the rt eye {zen stint w 3 revisions}.. Dr says 'eye drops are no longer working & i could lose my vision in a yaer or less is i refuse the tube shunt surgery " I feel i have little choice but to risk it .. anyone who's had similiar experiences would love to hear from you ..there ought to be a site created for Glaucoma patients can share information , advice & opinions

In the last couple weeks I had the laser treatment on both eyes to reduce the pressure in my eyes. I'm saying a prayer to God that this works. Hopefully some of the other procedures like this one just shown will work for other people just as well!

I never had glaucoma surgery on my eyes because my eye drops have been working with lowering my pressure however I almost had to have laser surgery because the pressure in my left eye five years ago was High and my glaucoma doctor wanted it in the teens

Just had this done to my right eye and in the second week of recovery, still quite sore but the pressure has come down from 34 to 14 in the first week hope that it stay in the teen range. My left eye has a bleb in it to keep the pressure down but sometimes the pressure is low cause my vision to be blurry until the pressure increases to 7or above. This surgery was due to my being allergic to the majority of pressure lowering drugs and also the laser cause the pressure to rise right after being use with no lowering drops to use in my case. Will let you know how my recovery goes in the next few weeks, oh yes do have double vision when I first wake up in the morning but tends to go away as I focus my sight.

Never get that type of surgery, never. Bad, bad, bad!!! The bleb is a huge mistake.

I'm going with Canaloplasty and never a Trabeculectomy. Trabeculectomy is nothing but problems and problems that can arise even years later from it. No good, Charlie!

Very interesting introduction to the Glaucoma valve. Just curious, what is the diameter of the tiny tube of the valve? - thanks!

For baerveldt Glaucoma Implant, the external diameter of the tube is 0.63mm while in internal diameter is 0.30mm (see www.vision.abbott/content/dam/bss/divisionalsites/amo/DFUs/other/Baerveldt_packageinsert.pdf if you want to play with one 8-) )
