For Ruthie, as someone that lives near Paris, don't buy in to the whole "French girl" look. It doesn't exist, trust me. You want to be comfortable and safe, meaning be more conscious of the bags you use, less conspicuous crossover bags or fanny packs worn as a crossover are super common here, and honestly, most of us locals use a canvas tote. For clothes, nothing super flashy I guess, but honestly, wear the style you're comfortable with, wear comfortable shoes over stylish shoes, those cobble stones are scary sometimes. And remember if you're here from July to August, the weather is like 25C to maybe up to 35C, sometimes higher, with rarely if any AC.
