This was Lovy Mokolo Longomba's first song for his beautifu wife Mado Zaina. The "Mama Ya Mwana" phrase in the chorus means "Mother of the Boy". That boy is Lovy's first son also called Lovy Longomba. Sulutani Hamisi Fataki Lokasa Masumbuko ya Dunia was moonlighting and singing alongside Kassongo wa Kanema on this 1980 recording by AIT at Polygram under the watch of producer of Felix Jakomo. This was the year Virunga was formed and there was realignment. Kasongo who was in Super Mazembe at the time was ironically a founding member of Virunga at Garden Square. In the sizzling crisscrossing of personnel, the Les Kinois rhythm guitarist Okelo Jose Songa who was from Jericho had joined Super Mazembe to play alongside Rapok and Songoley, and Ililko Madjo Maduley Abdalla too had joined Mazembe, so even Mazembe was bursting in the seams with new musicians. In the studio, another man ably assisting Bookerlose on solo guitar was Mwalimu Bedjos. You see, the lines between the Zairean bands were always blurred in the heyday.
Those Days...oooh I remember when I was in Mombasa and Super Mazembe playing at a club called Kengeleni on way to nyali. R.I .P Lovy, kasongo, Bukolos, and the rest.
I really miss you, my dear friend Kasongo wa Kanema. Your baritone voice coupled with the tenor voice of Lovy Longomba always made me happy. Rest in eternal peace, beau frère na ngai.
Music clearly reminds me of my youthful days and gives me such fond memories. The artists alive and gone too soon will be remembered forever! Long live Super Mazembe. Regards from Lumumba Wa Kenya.
The only surviving member of super Mazembe as of now (Jan 2023) is Loboko Passie who is based in Mombasa and is not active music-wise. In fact, Loboko was not a member of the original Super Mazembe which arrived in Kenya around 1975. He joined the band later.
This song came out in 1982 as a side project under the name Bana Likasi. Then no one remembered to do what you are suggesting. People just enjoyed the music and forgot to record live shows
even the promoters, or those studios like EMI Records? ...for Super Mazembe just to vanish without any recorded videos, that's the most unfortunate thing to ever happen to any existing bands!
These were days of real music
Old is gold. What a song❤❤

True classics. Brings back deep nostalgia of High school time at Lango College Lira during the 1970s- 80s.

All artists then were very slim. What was happening then? No wonder their voices were super good
Nobody is rich enough to buy back their past. Those were the days when music was music, and still maturing with age.
