oh my bad, i just figured it out. go to parental settings and change the age to like 20, if you have it below 20/13 then it wont let you use gems, because kids like to grab their parents credit card and CH CHING so thats why.
Will it might be a bug. Because I was looking through animals I want in the future and I saw them with zero diamonds and then I just clicked on them and then I just got them. So yeah I guess I did use the bug.
