    Hey man,
Huge fan of your CK3 videos. If you’re ever in need of video ideas, I think providing historical context for potential campaigns would be a really cool series idea. I feel you’ve killed it with the tutorial and guide videos already, so providing historical campaign ideas would be really cool for those of us who aren’t huge history buffs. Loved the little history lesson you gave at the start of this stream. You’ve taught us all how to play the game, now teach us some history so we can try and recreate it in game!

thank you so much for such a nice comment man! so if i say... did the Duke of Apulia, Robert Guiscard, would you want to watch a 20-30 minute video talking about the history behind the character or a video talking about how to play/start the campaign?! :)

I like the derivation of Rus for Children of Ash and Elm. He argues that it originally comes from Ruslag, a region of Sweden which refers to Rowers. He argues that Rus was initally the name for river raiders originating near Lake Ladoga. Northern raiders were broadly employed as both raiders and security for traders. Eventually Rus came to mean people who controlled the rivers and was a combination of Norse fortune seekers and local Slav fighters. This then progressed to a combined ethnicity

"Ascold creates Kyiv", that's some nonsense. Kyiv was founded by Kyi, that's where city name comes from:
Kyi-iv - Kyi is name of the founder and ending "iv" is modifying this noun, so "Kyiv" means "City of Kyi" or "City, that belongs to Kyi"

0:55:00 1) also consider a spouse with the same congenital traits as you. That guaranties that you get the trait on the child. And I think (if I am wrong, "reinforce" already means the above) there is a a chance to "reinforce" congenital traits, making them inherited to your future lineage instead.
    2) you see that giant is considered a bad trait, because it has that red icon.

    • @rm0986
      @rm0986 4 ปีที่แล้ว

If I'm correct "reinforcing" means having a chance of upgrading it to the next stronger version of the same trait, so for example if you are quick and so is your wife, all your children are guaranteed to be quick, but they may become intelligent instead if you are lucky

The eth symbol (D with a line) is pronounced as a g when followed by an r.
    Otherwise its pronounced as eth.
The weird lookin p is basically the eth symbol, but at the beginning of words rather than in the middle.

A couple of other uses of marrying of your courtiers... knights die often, so make sure you marry them off, so their widows can bring in new knights. Marrying courtiers is also great for getting physicians. Search for physicians who aren't married and marry them to your courtiers (usual problems with religion etc). This way you aren't paying for bringing new people into your court :)

Thoroughly enjoying the opening moves for this Ruler, I followed some of your suggestions and found some of my own lucky opportunities. I spent my first 100 piety and divorced Sif to marry a herculean norse bride, raided into byzantium and took a beautiful concubine off a Baron. However I noticed you have a realm size of 6 and I have yet to break out of 5 holdings. I have the full Duchy and my spouse is aiding in stewardship. Did I just roll low or did you change your tribal law? I just dont like giving away all my holdings to vassals right away. Great videos I think your style is great, your tutorial advice helped me immensely when I played as Dublin.

sorry man, this is a live stream, and i cannot edit pretty much any of it. part of the fun of the live stream is interacting with people because they are the driving force behind the game. as i mention in the video, i don't typically unpause for the first hour or so of my campaigns while i'm setting things up. i don't play at break neck speeds because i'm conversing with people. it's not as fun to see all gameplay and no engagement, but there are plenty of other lets plays out there that do just that! :D

Awesome video. FWIW, I'm pretty sure the Rurikid line goes through to the Romanovs. In the end of the 1590s, after Ivan IV (the Terrible) forms Russia, the main Rurikid line dies out. From there, the Boyars, the nobles, elect a distant Rurikid cousin, Michael/Mikael I to lead, and while he's not as close to the main ruling Rurikid line, he was part of the family. From there, I'm pretty sure Michael went on to the progenitor of the Romanov line through till 1917.
Here's the family tree from Rurik to Nicholas II for those interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_tree_of_Russian_monarchs

Muscovy created Russian Empire, they did everything to separate themselves from Rus' even late Muscovy rulers didn't even sit in Kiev after defeating Kievan armies to show that center "moves" to Moscow
i guess the best and kinda simple way of showing Rus' history thats Kings and Generals documental, where actually they see and connect obvious contact between Rus' and Ruthenia, also Galicia Volhynia which are completely missed for some reason by most of western people, i guess they don't even know that people from West Ukraine called Ruthenians (and it is nothing to have with russia in future) even in times of Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania
russia it is just taken and changed name of Rus' on Greek manner and was only in titles of Kings like Ivan The Terrible, just as all other titles as political tool to show claims to territories.

I really like your videos. But i dont like your playthroughs much because they are long and filled with interaction with people chatting with you, but without you quoting what they say. That means that the transmission is filled with "holes", silence, your comments to things we who dont look at the stream cant see. If i can give you an advise it is to fill those holes. Quote what people write to you. read it loud while you are reading them. Put them in context.
What you say is interesting. But every step in the game that takes 1 minute to do and explain takes 4-5 minutes to watch due to all "dead" time.
