Found these gems in 2009, but they were better back then as they still had the old push button controls and the old vintage scissor gate doors on the inside. I say "they" plural, because back then there were two in operation; the single door lift next to this one was working as well (also with vintage scissor gate inside, and both inner and outer doors were manual operation).
I think around 2011-2012, they shut down the single-door one, and replaced the vintage scissor gate in this vid with the tacky looking glass doors. Sad really.

Ah, the epic shell house, filmed this quite a few years back, seems to be the same as it was back then, except for the new added… 5500 voice?

Why would you want to butcher these elevators?
They are actually more original than they were 40 years ago. The outer doors were black with an almost star like speckle. Now they are unpainted copper & the inner gates were white.
I can't remember, but the intirior of the cars may have been painted black.
It's a better restoration of the similar, but faster lifts in Goldsbough house next door. It lost one of its 2 lifts, one that had a gate to the front and the side, & the remaining one had it's gate and similar outer door to those @ Shell House, replaced by a solid auto door!

Come on, were they even trying with this modernisation?

      Their take on "modernization"? ;)

The lift is heritage listed. It was modernised to an operational state, with me electronics, but all else is intentionally kept original.

@@MatthewSchoepf at least this is a better mod then 180 queen street, which is also heritage listed, the lift got fully replaced with a new cab and everything, thyssenkrupp is definitely the worst lift modder in australia

@@LachieVidsTransportVlogs I agree. The cab of this one was kept, all except for the non-DDA compliant manual door, which was removed a fair few years ago now, and replaced with a custom glass door with a lattice door pattern on it.

After visiting Qld recently, I saw quite a wave of TKE mods that really seemed like they can mod just about anything and still leave the cab alone 😂😂
