Blacks stack was only pointed at me, so if I split there to deadliest trap, he can only smash me. If his stack was trapped in Siam then I would have split
That was really fun. I think gaming ethics makes it a slightly more interesting game as caring for who gets 2nd creates a long-term emotional bond between you and another player, which is more interesting to watch. But, I think if the other player either doesn't understand that you are never giving them first so they should play for second, or tries to force you to give them first, you should let go of all obligations. As you are clearly stronger. And even if not, at a 3-player game, it's super hard to give anyone second.

Well played. I can see the frustration. On the one hand, you have to respect players playing for 1st. On the other, you would appreciate them more if they tried to do it by playing actively rather than milque-toast half-and-half betrayal/work but don't do enough, and even more if they would change strategy when they can see it's not working and the game balance is broken. But everyone has more to learn and nobody can play perfectly. I entirely agree with your decision to kill black first when they didn't take the last chance for 2nd. Blue was the better player IMO.

Hmmm, I think I was in a game with this General Drogon 19600 account the other day (yesterday?). I got repeatedly attacked by a novice and eventually decided to kill him in 4th place even though it meant I was then so weak I was guaranteed third, I had to show him that what he did was stupid. Hopefully you'll publish it if it was actually your account.
On a related matter, do you really think it is a fair use of the ranking system to be a very good player but play an account that is much lower level? This unfairly skews the average rank of the opponents making it harder for people to gain rank. There was myself and another player both masters and I think everyone else was either novice or beginner so my 3rd place ended up losing 147 rank points where, if your account's rank was a true reflection of your skill, I suspect I would've broken even or even gained a little...
Btw, I won a 1v1 with half as many troops last night. I would've normally conceded but decided to keep punching. I ended up getting a trade into a trade on 3, he no trade on 4 and quit 🤣
