    Hello, I cannot understand why load P is added to the centroid. Isn't that load already taken into account by (P X e)? Thanks

      Good question. Whenever the point of application of a force is shifted elsewhere, both the resulting moment (P x e) and the force needs to be transferred. I'll give you a toy example.
      Imagine that you have a book on the table. If you push one corner of the book, it will translate as well as rotate about some axis of rotation. Now, if you remove the force and just try to emulate this action, you can't just simply rotate the book about the axis of rotation, but must also apply a force for translation. Does that make sense? A good explanation on this is in Meriam's book on Engineering Mechanics.
