Great tie Davie! You inspired me to tie salmon fly based on a dabbler. Thanks for that. Atb.

Firstly Davie nice fly as per usual. I have just ordered Veniard Claret dyes and looking at doing fur plus pheasant feathers I heard you say something about bleaching first is this totally necessary?

      Hi dudekiwi,
I don't bleach any of my materials before dyeing as I would rather buy them already bleached and dyed as this is far easier to do..I do though dye my feathers and furs when needed from their natural colours just as I did with the French Partridge, Seals Fur and the Indian Cape I use in the Claret Mayfly Bumble but I did buy the Pheasant Tail from Veniards which were already bleached and dyed..
      All the very best Davie

    Davie,
Great tie as usual! Just wondering what pattern you were tying using the partridge you dyed blue that you showed in the beginning of the video? I was curious as partridge is one of my favorite feathers to use. Keep up the good work I always enjoy and learn something from your videos, you are truly talented.

      Hi Vincent,
I was using the partridge feather for the front hackle of the Blue Zulu instead of the standard blue used on this fly..I've also used them in place of the blue jay as some customers like them..I'm glad you liked the fly..

Great fly as usual Davie, I tied some flies and was interrupted after super gluing the heads. I guess I never varnished over and they turned white. I thought I might put a layer of fresh thread over and just varnish. Do you think that would solve the problem or should I just throw them away and start over? All the best and thanks for sharing. God bless. Sean

      Hi Sean,
Just give the head of your fly a coat of varnish as this should sort it out, this is why I say you must coat the superglue with varnish as it will go white, it's called blooming as the activator for superglue is moisture...Let me know how you get on...

    Hello Davie,
I've been meaning to ask for awhile now... When you cut the brush for the super glue and varnish, what tool do you use. I don't get a lot of practice doing it... once for the varnish and twice for the super glue so far. Used a pair of old scissors. Made a mess and a lot of clean-up.

      Hi Mike,
I use a Stanley blade to cut the brush which I sit on the edge of the shelf which I don't mind marking with the super glue..

Hi Dave. Thanks for truly inspirational tutorials. I was wondering which brand of super glue you use? The one I use tends to go pale. Also how does it manage in water? It looks glossy and clear

Davie, did you know that the fulling mill superglue is available in the UK site, but not in the U.S. site?

Are these always fished in stillwaters - or is there a place for this style of wet fly in rivers and streams?

      Hi Bob,
They are mostly tyed for the loch fishing but there's nothing wrong with fishing them on the rivers and streams where you fish as this style of fly will fish well... All the very best Davie..
