I believe Iowa also raised some senior units for home defense. Other Midwest states may have done so as well.

    Ron, First Mery Christmass!
I could not look after your all videos, so I do not know your videos deal with a very interesing area about the Civil War.
The 1862 year brought the Federal Army and Navy occupied a lot of Confederate cities, some were almost empty, but a lot of cities had big local population and the occupation was effect for the citizens and the Federal soldiers-mariners. During the war these cities were not retaken by the Confederate Army. I read short letter from New Englander soldiers in New Orleans and a local greengrocer"s story, both gave an account about the Confederate money change to USA Dollar in New Orleans.
The city list is the next: New Orleans (+ agromeration as Algier, etc) Louisiana, New Bern in North Carolina, Norfolk in Virginia. Memphis and Nashvile in Tennessee, Pensacola in Florida (here the city was almost evacuated) and for me very interesting El Paso (that time Franklin) in Texas. The occupied El Paso (Franklin) had local civilian population with stories about the Federal occupation. (For me El Paso and Pensacola were new information from the Civil War, I have not known about them!)

the birthing of the Missouri story is very interesting ( not included in this particular post ) as told in Reminiscences of General Basil W. Duke, C.S.A. (published 1911). One will find reference to the earliest covert activity and organization of Southern men and true patriots under Duke upon call of duty in preparation of war by Jefferson Davis. Known as the "Minute Men", in homage to their revolutionary ancestors-they prepared to rumble against the "Wide Awakes" heavily funded by the Union League and its cozy relationship with the German leagues/clubs of Detroit, NYC..,the Wide Awakes would come to absorb the identity of the defender to "appear" to be the orginal "republicans" (note: lower case "r") and even later morph or establish into a funding group fashioned as the "Old Guard"- as they set the scene of what was to come, just as their leader Lincoln formed the "R"epublican Party. ..the deciet is complete. ..who is who?
