I can feel your joy with these beautiful instruments. I too rediscovered film one year ago, Rolleiflex TLR. After years of blasé digital photography. It’s really changed my life.
I absolutely love these cameras, for work the digital cameras are amazing they just make life so easy, but the old film camera's have given me back the joy and enthusiasm for photography that got me into it in the first place...
I am 74 and several of my cameras were made when I was in my teens to early twenties. I like doing photography with these older cameras. Just plain fun to pick one up and try to get the kind of picture that is nice to look at. Your reasons made sense to me... you put into words some of the reasons that resonate with lots of us that keep picking up the vintage equipment.
When I was thinking about making this video I didn't pick the reasons to make the TH-cam algorithm happy, I wanted it to be reasons that genuinely felt, so I am very happy that they resonate with others as well...
I am planning a full video on the Arti 6 camera which will hopefully be up in the next few weeks, it's loaded with film now I just need the time to go out and have a play...
Couldn't agree more. Whilst I own a very nice "mirrorless" digi , mostly shoot film for my portfolio work. I still own, and use my fathers Kodak 35 from the late thirties, and it still works just fine.
For work the mirrorless is definitely the way to go, even over my previous DSLR’s they just make life so easy, but for my own projects using these old cameras is just so enjoyable
@@TheVintageCameraGuy That good, you can find the cameras on leboncoin quite affordable. I am looking forward to a review. Dont miss the SEMFLEX 6x6 with 3.5 tessar type SOM BERTHIOT FLOR lens :-) France is full of cheap but excellent overlooked cameras.
I like the old folding cameras of course the bellows are the problem if you want to use them painting with Acrylic paint and a small amount of PVA glue does a nice job but it tends to stick when you fold it maybe leaving it open and carrying it in a case is the answer. The connection to the past I have a Kodak 3A special in the Auotographic window you can see traces of numbers some one wrote, I also have a Kodak Vest Pocket camera this was marketed as the Soldiers Camara aimed at men joining up for WW1 I wonder if mine was one of them, the authorities tried to ban them when they realised photos were being sent home that revealed the true horrors of the war
Just the thought that your camera may have been there would excite me, holding history in your hand and then taking photos that add to the story to me is something special
Do you mean like the Fuji X100, looks like a nice camera for sure but I kinda fall into the digital for work where I will use my R5 and R3’s, while the old vintage cameras are for my personal projects and fun… But that is just me and there is absolutely no right answer.
Just love old cameras and it is so good to see them being used and appreciated

Those look like great cameras, it might take me some time but I will definitely try to get my hands on some of them to review

I MAKE EVERY FRAME COUNT even if i shoot alot...... im just old like that !
Absolutely, growing up working with film made me think about every frame and that transfered across when I moved to digital
I try to make those frames count. That is why I do not go through very many rolls in a year. The roll I just finished took me eight weeks.
Absolutely, quality over quantity for sure, one of the things I really enjoy is not rushing, rolls of film regularly sit in my cameras for weeks…
