      +dxburner222 I'm grateful to have lived that era and watched Yao play a few times. Your first impression of Yao is this extra tall baller who dunks almost without jumping, but after a few games, you'll learn to appreciate his moves in the post and his tactical IQ. Yao had that effect on us fans. He'll do a sudden baseline spin or dream shake to a baby hook and you'll be thinking 'Fk his height. That is a thing of beauty.'. Hahaha. Good ol' days. :)

    Even though he had a short career, he was probably the most famous player in the NBA during his time. I remember his first game against Shaq and everyone was anticipating the match up and he stuffed Shaq two times in a row and nobody had ever saw that happen to Shaq before. Then Yao on his first possession against Shaq beat him clean for a swish. That was probably the first time in history we ever saw anyone dominate Shaq like that both on defense and offense. Yao, obviously is not as accomplished as Shaq, but u have to admit, nobody has ever given Shaq any trouble except Yao. They had some good battles. Most of all, Yao is a really humble, likable, down to earth guy. If you can find a way to get past your inner covert racism of chinese people, you'd come to know that Yao is probably one of the most nicest and humane people on the earth. He's also given us one of the greatest meme faces "bitch please" of all time hehe.

  • @dravennow8948

    Yao Ming is definitely a symbol in China, even in the world. It's him that brought millions of people fell in love with basketball and NBA. Also, he is really a humble and humorous man, really a nice guy.
    His skill is quite amazing with his height, we cannot image a center do this kind of moves and shots, shark cannt, howard cannt.
    His short career dues to the overuse in his last few years in NBA. in the first and second years, Yao almost missed the game. But when the coach changed, Yao played almost 40 minutes at a game, which is quite amazing for a center, even for a PG.
    Moreover, he should play for China in almost every big games, such as Olympics, World Championship and Asian Games. Korea coach once said that we could be as good as china if we have Yao. He is right. Without Yao, china is the 2 second level in Asia.
    Now, Yao owns a basketball club in Shanghai, which was once his mother team. Also he joined in many benevolent activities with his influence. Yao is using his power to support the development of chinese basketball.

    Yao is truly one of the greatest yet sadly one of the last conventional Centers in the league. Now all I see are these PF-ish Centers doing dribble+layups even joining in early offenses. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. It just makes me exhale to think how an era has ended. I will weep if someday I see someone score a hook shot.

      QualityClips For his size, he was skilled. He moved quicker then most 7 foot players in the NBA. If he was “6’10”, he would’ve likely gotten more skilled as a player then he was 7’6 . If Lebron was 6 foot would he be as good, if curry was 5’10 would be as good or if shaq was 6’6 would he be as good. Who knows? It will never happen, since we can’t genetically modified their height during their career. My point is do not change a player’s height.

    • @PushaDee
      @PushaDee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dominicpin1744 It's the NBA. Height is everything. Most people will go their entire life without ever seeing a person over 6'7. Most NBA teams have 8 or 9 players over 6'7. If I'm 5'7, my odds of making it into the NBA are about 1 in 5 billion. If I'm 7 feet tall, my odds of making an nba roster are about 1-60.

    • @dominicpin1744
      @dominicpin1744 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      QualityClips So, it doesn’t make it right to change their height. Plus height is not everything. Look at Curry, walker, Irving, Schroeder, Paul, Isaiah Thomas(prime before injury), isiah thomas(pistons), and others. Also if you look how good Yao was compare to people around his height like manute bol, Shawn Bradley, boban, and etc. Yao have a fade-away, hookshot, footwork, great freethrow shooter, long twos(Very rare for a player over 7’2). He had skills and if boban is still in the league then Yao would also.

He was more than just a big body, because actually shaq wasn't that much bigger than many other big men, while Yao towered over everyone. I'm just saying that just because shaq couldn't shoot jump shots doesn't mean that he didn't have lots of other skills.

      Joe Lackey That's not very fair to say imo. Shaq is more physical and explosive, while Yao is better at shooting, fade away or hook shots. Yao gained weight and got more powerful in post later in his career, which made him more dominant, yet ironically, because he got such power not by talent but by excessive training, it was considered a reason for his early retire.

      So you're one of those people who can't appreciate anything except 6'5 guards doing crossovers and dunks right?.... He's dunking over defenders, midcourt behind the back... Pretty nice highlights! He has good handles for a big man, good feel for positioning in the post etc...

      This exist stricly because NBA wants to show love to the far east. China has billions of people that translate into revenue. Doesnt meean compared to other players top 10 this is actually GOOD. watching a man that doesnt even have to jump, dam near, dunk isnt the most spectacular feat. c'mon. Sound like you just wanna be "fair". im not interested in being that rather being REALISTIC.

      you right. im hating on Yao Ming. I watched cause I was waiting on something to make be like "wow".
      It never came. But apparently you were wowed by this impressive collection on top 10 plays. You probably think the best dunker alive was John Stockton too huh... Do you even know who that is sonny?
