Thanks for the kind comments everyone! If you’re curious about my unique sunglasses, they’re these ones (the heron ocean): www.vallon.store?sca_ref=245031.4N6LNivT04. I needed something to protect my eyes better and these do the job. If you want some too, I get some kickback from that link :)
I lived near the canal off of the Rhone in Arles where you began your journey. (About a mile from the Van Gogh bridge over the canal) I spent an entire summer there, what I call the Magical Summer of '74. Thank you for filming so much of your journey northward. I can recall the smell of the air from those days over 4 decades ago. You're doing for me my dream... Thank you for taking me, and us, along.
There must be a lesson in here that shows, the best stories are ones of peace and tranquility rather than conflict and pain. And how you keep yourself looking fresh and clean on a small boat is a marvel!
How time flies. We just figured out it was this is the post that started our journey with Magic Carpet. And now MC II is about to splash. Thanks for letting us join you on your journey.
Is it the background music. Is it the scenery? I dont know. What's the best superlative to describe it all.?? Got it.! AAÀH! !!! Yes. That covers everything. AAAAAH.!!! Thank you guys for yet again another fantastic video. Take care. Stay safe.
Last time I was in France I don't think you or Al were born yet, I glad the beauty survives. Memories last a life time, And you have these video's to share Thank You.
I look forward to your wonderful Journey it makes an old man happy I'm at 87 year old X stick Potter but I am thrilled for you and aldino keep up the good work it is very very pleasant to see this happening in some bedtimes thank you from Bobo
I want to thank you two, from the bottom of my heart, and with great gratitude. You have made my COVID lockup bearable and my memories of france and places that I have visited in the 70's in Europe, return to me. The love of the water is so deep in my heart, your journeys ease my soul. For I'm a land locked sailor in the Midwest of the United States, May not see the ocean ever again Once again my heart goes out to you two for bringing me joy of your trip and boating Thank You. May the winds be to your back, & fellow seas.God Bless
I've only found you few months ago but you soon became my favourite sailing channel. the serenity and poetry in your video is next level. great storytelling Maya!
Look what you have done: Tomrow I start my trip from the Baltic into the Northsea and because of your lovely river episods I have decided to leave the NOK and take the route via the river Eider into the Northsea. :-) LG Niko
Soothingly narrated and very well edited. I watch this as I travel in your footsteps. Overnighting at a pontoon as we wait for the lock to open at about 0700. Cheers
Sorry you guys, I have been away for a while, it's nice to see you are still producing stellar award-winning documentary-style videos with elegance and charm.
Reminds me of the old Pink Floyd song "Granchester Meadows" And a river of green is sliding Unseen beneath the trees Laughing as it passes Through the endless summer Making for the sea
What a serene and romantic area. It’s the kind of place you must travel to with your soulmate. Of course the remote control doesn’t always work in the middle of the day, it’s French.
Your writing is like music. Your turns of phrase and graceful epigrams are so tasteful and elegant. A beautiful, and beautifully told story. Thank you. 😊
Your adventure is like passing through a dream..Your dreams will be full of aquatic canal passages for the rest of your life..Keep doing evening cooking preparation elements, you do it well and Europe is all about food.. Enjoying your adventure... Thanks
Ah, I just picked you up on EP 11 and find that the little lady climbing the iron ladders barefooted is Canadian! My wife and I travelled the Trent-Severn and when we came to the 45 locks, lifts, and railway, we always had a wonderful Canadian to help us, not a remote! Ya gotta luv a human!!! Love your series
Very nice picturesque view of the canals with the trees Canopy over The boat, you did spoil me a little bit I expected and even in some quaint little town, oh in the wood on the boat looks very nice the varnish epoxy or whatever shines very nicely
👍👌👏 Uuuh, what a wonderful landscape, especially the last spot. I mentioned it (often?) before and simply have to say it again (and will continue doing it in the future): When Lady Maya does her unique, bright and famous smiling, everything brightens/lightens up! 😁😁
Maya, I have to say you & alladino are so matched perfectly! You both work well together & respect each other. This was a beautiful, scenic trip through the canals & locks. I was surprised at the young boy who was watching you both go through the lock, like he had never seen that before....lol, thank you from a subscriber to your channel, it was a welcome change from my humdrum life!
Every time my husband catches me watching your videos, he gives me a little eyebrow wiggle, and I have to tell him that just because it’s fun to watch you live on a boat, doesn’t mean that *I* want to live on a boat. 😂 Thanks for sharing these little snippets of your life with us!
Magnifique! This canal journey in lovely France - do take a bit of time to savor the local cuisine, washing it down with the equally local wines - perfect!
You made the right decision taking these canals seem about perfect . You could tie up and explore French towns, A couple of bikes would be ideal . Just found your channel and love your narration. Greetings from Nor-calif.. wish I was there ...
Thanks for the great videos on the journey. I travelled the same, Port St. Louis to Basel, single handed and got stuck in the canal, the gate closed without a dock - due to high water. It was really flooding. I got caugt at the Moulin Rouge in Orchamps. I tied up my 27 footer, also with a keel, under the bridge next to the mill (minute 9) and slept under a bridge - in my sailboat that is. After VNF opened the gate, I could leave the boat for a week in Orchamps. It was five years ago and I will finally mount the video, before heading down the danube. I look forward to hearing from you! SailingDad
What beautiful country and beautiful music, Maya you are such a talented lady and you make that violin sing. Aledino, your boating skills are exceptional, I would be happy to sail anywhere with you. Enjoying your delightful boat and thank you for allowing me to share your journey.
Hi , we have just started following your magical adventures over the past week or so. We catch up each night with a couple of episodes. Love what you both are doing
I love the soft-voiced commentary along your trip - the scenery is breathtaking, certainly worthy of being on calendars and screen savers. I always look forward to each release with great anticipation.
As always your videos are interesting, educational, and uplifting. Prior to your video I was watching one where all the couple did was complain “woe is us.” My thought was that I’m sorry they are in a predicament, but quit sailing and get a job if it’s so bad. Keep up the great videos Magic Carpet!
I can definitely relate to the predicament moments too though. Sailing is all about extremes. The highs are higher and the lows are most definitely lower. All sailors have days sometimes where they might even wish to be in an office - but the good days make it worth it.
How lovely that was to watch. I’m beside the Canal Lateral de la Garonne, at a marina where it meets the river Garonne, parked up in our motorhome, after a 150 mile drive down from La Rochelle. It’s glorious weather, and your vlog certainly enhances perceptions of the river life close by!
Thanks for your awesome videos! I really like your mix of dreamy storytelling and practical work (such as the rudder repair). Will keep watching for sure!
Masterful program you tell a beautiful story so descriptive I can feel the breeze and smell the forest you music is wonderful and your partner is a wonderful man. Thank you for sharing I can't wait for next weeks program and I can't wait to see your sails unfurled and see you sail. Your Canadian fan. Donald Legate. P.s. the blues song was wonderful. Well done
Great channel. I really like the way you travel and tell about it. Just a little side note : maybe you could ask the locals how to pronounce the places you talk about. For example, in French, the Doubs river is pronounces DUU, not Dube. Keep up the good work.
What Magic is this !? No crashing waves of icy water and stinging salt spray? No one charging you for each lock and dock? No crowds or anchors a twisting together in the night? What Spell hast Thee cast !!??
A pleasure to see your nice ride through France. As you may already know 'Wilding's Sailing' is in the French canal system at this time as well. They are heading South toward the Med. They were stuck nearby Paris for the Winter. It has been a lot of slow going for them....much weed in the canals.
I like 15:45 “ we wanted to stay outside of town, we wanted to make a curry” seems funny to me in France. Another pleasant episode. Thank you. SK in the UK.
What a beautiful passage. Made even nicer with the lack of other boats. I'm sure that in a normal year at this time the river and canals would be packed.
@@SailingMagicCarpet Good to know. After your stop in Dole I started looking at charter boats in the area. Knowing that traffic is light makes it even more attractive.

I can listen to your voiceovers all day long. So soothing as I'm working on my 3d modelling at 1:30 am in the Philippines.

Maya your voice brings detail to the video that creates a storybook effect. That is a talent that could be monetized.
It is being monetized through these videos! But thank you!

Bienvenus en France !
Delightful, very relaxing voyage.
So peaceful & quiet. I love the trees overhanging the Canals. We have some roads like that & always enjoy traveling them.
"Cherry tree - Attack!" Love it.....
Someone got to the cherries before Aladena! That, or the birds!
OMG, delightful! Not to take away from the beautiful French canals but some stretches are reminiscent of the Rideau Canal.
Lovely and charming!!! Looking forward to Friday for your next adventure. Thank you!
I'm enjoying your canal transits many times more than I thought I would. It's wonderful! Thank you.

Always a visual musical treat, thank you :)
How pictureques your journey has been today. Thank you for taking the trouble to film and edit it for us.
Beautiful place, Beautiful channel, Beautiful people!!!
What a beautiful passage. Made even nicer with the lack of other boats. I'm sure that in a normal year at this time the river and canals would be packed.
Surprisingly, this canal never gets too busy! Other canals - like the canal du midi - are a different story though
