  • This is if you want to do a strut installation before installing to car to make it easier or in general a guide for putting together struts. I find this is straight to the point rather than talking a lot.
    Tools Needed:
-19mm Passthru socket and wrench for Bilstein top nut *BMW has 18mm nut
    -6mm hex for strut rod
    -Spring compressors
-Socket/Wrench for spring compressor and ratchet
    Parts:
Mix of OE and aftermarket by choice but of course you can go all OEM.
-Strut mounts: Sachs 803 213 5 bolt variant **Check which version you have for your car. There is a 3 bolt variant and a 5 bolt.
    -Strut pad: BMW 31336787114
    -Dust boot: Febi 46487
-Kit: Bilstein B8 Shocks & Eibach Prokit Springs: Eibach E90-20-030-03-2. Bilstein also has part number and separate numbers for front struts

are they identical on left and right or different ? Cause apparently b6 are the same and my mechanic has never seen that !! But the guy that sold me the two b6 says thats how they should be mounted on a f20, same piece for left and right. Help !

Yes they even have different part numbers. In the pictures the swaybar endlink mounts face different directions.
You can see it online in their catalogue in the pictures. It wouldn't really make sense if it was welded the same direction for both sides. The rear of course does not matter.

      B6 Front Right - 35-264583

Thanks for this. My new B8s arrived without dust covers, I imagine these black ones are the original ones that can me re-used for the new dampers?

They do not come with dust covers. In the description you can find the part numbers I used. So you can either reuse the existing dust boots from the dampers on the car but then you need to dismantle those struts or you can order an extra dust boots.
