I am in BC and one of the many fires jumped the lake last night and it's getting worse fast. I've never ever seen anything like this, nor this close to home. It's so apocalyptic and feels like a dream. I was prepared for this spiritually, but it's affecting me hard today. I have found myself in tears. Normally, I keep it together except when I am interceding in prayer, so I am a little suprised to find myself emotional today. i remember when the Okanagan Valley burned in the 80's i think it was. The Apple growers were OK, but pot was illegal back then, and Okanagan was one of the prime growing areas....no crop insurance there. The growers lost everything.

if it has been as dry in NWT and BC as it has been here, it may simply be that water bombers are seeking good quality water supplies in the area to lay down with fire retardant on these fires. Not everything is a quick fix. I mean look who waits in the wings. Someone talking about cutting cutting cutting. You HAVE to include just one phrase about climate change and how burning fossil fuels is increasing the severity of wildfires *early on* in your coverage to ensure peiple understand that this grows more likely the longer we don't reduce our dependence on them. Critical for Canada's electorate to understand this link at times like these, given the Alberta Tar sands etc. Politicians can do much more to speed the transition to clean energy but need to be given the mandate by an informed electorate that understands how their lives are being affected and are direct risk by inaction.

Here's a funny fact, government officials in Hawaii say climate change was a factor in the Lahaina fire, yet at the same time they are saying they will rebuild Lahaina. Makes zero sense to rebuild the city because scientists say Lahaina and places like it will be underwater in 10 to 20 years🤔

i remember when the Okanagan Valley burned in the 80's i think it was. The Apple growers were OK, but pot was illegal back then, and Okanagan was one of the prime growing areas....no crop insurance there. The growers lost everything.

In Ont, we barely heard of any fires in BC....they burned, but it wasn't a news iten, except for being mentioned for a minute, maybe. Okanagan was only mentioned because so many apple trees burned (Okanagan is famous for them) and then there was a tiny mention of the pot growers. The apple farmers had crop insurance and could regrow other trees. Cheers anyways!

if it has been as dry in NWT and BC as it has been here, it may simply be that water bombers are seeking good quality water supplies in the area to lay down with fire retardant on these fires. Not everything is a quick fix. I mean look who waits in the wings. Someone talking about cutting cutting cutting. Makes you wonder if fire fighting will be one of the areas cut in the future Conservative budget. It happened in Alberta under Jason Kenney not too long ago.

Extremely dry conditions. Storm cells that passed through with lightning strikes that found the ground and set it smoldering. You know the normal natural processes of wind and storm passing through.

You HAVE to include just one phrase about climate change and how burning fossil fuels is increasing the severity of wildfires *early on* in your coverage to ensure peiple understand that this grows more likely the longer we don't reduce our dependence on them. Critical for Canada's electorate to understand this link at times like these, given the Alberta Tar sands etc. Politicians can do much more to speed the transition to clean energy but need to be given the mandate by an informed electorate that understands how their lives are being affected and are direct risk by inaction.
