I find it wild that I started watching your videos as a young man, and now I am a not-so-young man and you're still here making great content. Thanks for all the hard work over the years! I hope you and the family have a great 2025!
@@jeffwidlacki8243 same here. I remember watching his videos earl 2000’s. One of my favorites is with Marc and his wife doing a skit for purchasing wood at a supply store 🤣
Dude, I totally remember watching “the jointer is jumping“ we’re the only place I could see it was on iTunes. I think I found you when you only had six episodes. It’s been so long. I don’t even remember. Anyway, you have been a massive reason on why I make a living on this platform now as well. And I cannot thank you enough for that Chris .
I only watch/subscribe to a few woodworkers, and TWW is one of them. It's not hard to tell that you have 18 years of experience, because your video quality is amazing. Also, your builds keep progressing in difficulty, which is cool. I am stepping out of my comfort zone as well, relative to building things that will challenge me a bit more. Thanks for being accessible to those of us who watch your content. You've answered every question I've ever sent you, and quickly at that. No snobbery whatsoever, just support. That is very appreciated.
I only started making stuff in 2020.. when I suddenly had more time in my hand (I wonder why.... 2020 was a blur 😛). You and Steve Ramsey are the first channels that I found. A few years later, I still smile whenever you and Steve release a new video. This is a really great peek behind your workflow. Thank You
I can’t thank you enough for sharing this behind the channel video. It gave me a lot of hope and ideas. I’ve been a subscriber for a few years and you never disappoint. That’s right. You’ve never gotten a “dislike” from me. Keep ‘em coming.
Congratulations on 18 years!! Thank you for the years of entertainment...I am not a woodworker, but I love your content!! Here is to another 18 years!!
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been watching you since 2012 when I started woodworking. I remember seeing all those powermatic tools and just drooling. I only had a used miter saw and a used worn out sander. Never once did I let that stop me from watching your channel. And never once did I think I could make stuff since I didn’t have all those tools. Now… I have an amazing shop. Not Powermatic. But I am super blessed. And you were one of the creators that taught me what I know and inspired me to keep going.
Marc and Nicole are pretty much responsible for my getting into woodworking as a hobby, not to mention my severe case of chronic G.A.S. (Gear acquisition syndrome). 😅 It was awesome to meet you both in person this year along with Rob & the Purple Heart volunteers. Wishing you all a very happy holidays and a wonderful New Year’s!
Marc, I remember the first video of yours I ever watched and it featured music from Huey Lewis! Man, it's been a long time and you have come a long way. But one thing hasn't changed: the content is excellent, educational, and funny. I'm glad you haven't changed who you are. You have been a role model and inspiration to me and so many others... Thanks for the peek behind the curtain. It takes SO much more to make a video than most of us realize. We appreciate all you do (and have done) to keep producing such good content. Cheers to you, Marc!
Thank you to all the Spags for another great year of entertainment and learning. Your content is my constant dose of reality and happiness. Thank you both. Also huge fan of Wood Talk. Best to you and the channel in the new year!
Keep up the great work! My dining room is graced with chairs based on your design and plans. Wife is happy. Looking forward to gleaning more good ideas from your channel.
At around 2:00, love you are taking self care seriously. I am around the same age as you and I have been making life style changes since 2021 and my health (weight included) has never been better. Regarding your back pain take a look at cleaning up your diet, ANY diet that removes processed foods, sugar and flour will help you big time. Thanks for the video!
It’s funny you are partially responsible for my current job here in St. Louis. Which is the most successful I’ve been. We will cross paths at some point I hope so I can shake your hand. Thank you
Excellent. I'm old enough to remember a time when youtube didn't exist and the only content we had access to was heavily commercialized, extremely high cost large production type handyman shows. You never got to see behind the scenes, you never got to see a project go from idea to completion and everything along the way. It was a ridiculously well paid host that would rush through everything. It was pretty much the least amount of content possible to keep people watching so that they could get to the next commercial break. While there is some of that legacy stuff still on youtube, content like yours and the way you make it is incredibly awesome. People want to see the mistakes, the way you do things, hear about how much things cost or the difficulties in getting things. They want to know the host, the creator. It breaks down so many barriers that exist in the mainstream media world. Creators like you aren't going for sensationalism. They're not being told what they can and can't do or say in the show. It is entirely audience driven. The audience literally gets to decide what they like and don't like. The creator must listen to the audience and create content that people want to see and content that will keep people coming back over and over. That isn't easy. There is a direct line of communication between the content creator, and the audience. That's an amazing thing for us the audience. When you can do it for 18 years and be successful, that's quite an accomplishment. When you can do what you love, provide content and entertainment to others, make a living from it, and be your own person, that's about the best one can ask for in life. When there is this huge community full of creators and so much unique content to watch, it's a golden age for the consumer/audience and the creator as well. I love when creators get together, or have these good natured competitions with one another. There are thousands of wood working channels to compete with so why not be a part of the community instead of trying to be your own island in the ocean. I think you do a good job of that. Yes, pocket holes and double sided tape are legitimate too lol.
Thanks for everything you do! At the end of 2023, after 25 years in the corporate world I finally had the courage to start my own woodworking business. It has been an incredible journey and I learned 100% of it from you and a few others on TH-cam (and the guild). Best part was having customers send me pictures of the stuff I made being given to someone for Christmas. Seeing people excited and knowing it's something they will keep and remember for a very long time is something we all desire from our careers. Hope comments like these give you that same fizz!
I always watch your videos and have since shortly after you started making them. So that's a long time but I always enjoy them and have learned from you.
Love it!!! I have done some filming for my wife along with the editing. I appreciate your effort. Most people think the video jumps from the camera to TH-cam.
TWW sort of been by my side for years- much appreciate this video and getting a glimpse as to all the work that goes into these videos. Have a great 2025 Marc and Fam.
OMG - You're in Flint Hill - I guess I missed that part when you moved into that Fire House. I'm a stones throw from you in Edwardsville IL. I was in Flint Hill today because Saturday your Wentzville Sanitary Force Main from the GM plant collapsed. You should smell the Poo Poo water collecting in a storm basin in your back yard. You have inspired me to share my DIY knowledge on YT and I thank you for that. A fine woodworker I’ll never be, that’s why I have you! Marc you are so lucky to have an understanding wife, and now a cat that actually likes you and doesn't try to bury you in the litterbox. Thanks for the content as well as the farts and laughs!

Marc, you're a great teacher - I appreciate your ability to distill techniques or principles down into concise instructions. This was enjoyable to watch! Just curious - how much scripting do you do for a given video?
Thanks for the kind words. Scripting really depends on the kind of video I’m making. On something like this, the entire thing is scripted out ahead of time. For build instruction, there’s almost no scripting. I just roll with what I think needs to be explained.
It was interesting to watch. You do woodworking as #1 and video as #2 profession. I am involved in video as #1 profession and woodworking as a well equipped hobbyist.
A flashback to Baby Mark. The endgrain cutting board was my intro to TWW all those years ago. BTW, I'll send Nicole a copy of the memo for the TPS reports. 😃

that sounds like a decent solution, but honestly it's so nice not having to worry about power. The tether really is a small price to pay for that kind of convenience. Anything shop-made will likely require me to clear a path wherever I need to go.
You are very welcome, although I get a lot out out your videos. I was an advocate of some sort of subscriber payment long before Patreon and membership etc. Then the ads came in force. Following that, there were so many good “channels” that the subscription model has failed, I think. It’s too expensive for people to pay a subscription to all of their favourite resources. The advert model must win out over time and it seems like there is a lot more competition, which may plateaux at some point. You have done well, diversified, and will continue to do well I expect.
I woke up some time this year to the realization that "OMG everything hurts and moving is hard.".....i need to get on the morning stretching routine train.....im not even 40 yet

I had a cat exactly like that and it was the best cat I ever had.

I would consider using an ecoflow battery on the base of your tripod to go cordless
