I found those tin strainers at Weaver leather but they call it the quarter horse strainer and It’s kind of short, the cross bread strainer is 16” long... I’ve also found them at Bowden Saddle tree

I ordered from Bowden, and didn’t like the shape they were bent in... a crease, instead of a roll... these I found from Montana Leather...

Could it be possible to make a saddle without the seat strainer. Like leave the open space of the tree visible once the saddle is done . To as allow less crotch discomfort when riding?

The old military saddles “McClelland”’s were made that way!

What’s the leather across the bars behind the seat used for? Thanks

That’s one way of marking the centerline of the tree!

What kind of tree is that?

It’s an old (before being sold and moved to Mexico) Hadlock and Fox... it’s their Bowman roper. It’s fiberglassed and then coated with something like a truck bed liner! Precision Trees in Yoakum does the same thing, but they use Kevlar... that’s who I’ll be using from now on!

@@susanwilliford7975 22 years ago they were 30 miles from my shop! I was there at least once a week, getting hardware or trees! When I had a tree that had to fit a specific horse, I’d bring my measurements to them and worked with them! The Hadlock family sold out to Alamo Saddlery and everything moved to Del Rio, TX
I believe the factory is in Mexico… that would explain the change in quality of their product!
